A Critical Consensus 6 November 2011

StuckInTheSixties
StuckInTheSixties: An assessment of current motion pictures by major American film critics. Film criticism is rated on a scale of 10 (excellent) to 1 (poor). I personally have found this consensus to be very accurate and reliable. Those movies I’ve seen with high ratings were excellent, and those I’ve seen with lower ratings weren’t. The movies are listed according to the critics’ ratings.

When a movie is reviewed by a film critic, that critic might make a smart, intelligent, worthy review ... or they might not. So trying to judge how good a movie is going to be based on a single, or even a few, reviews has an element of chance associated with it. All critics make poor reviews sooner or later.

But when you take the reviews of a large number of critics, and average them out in the way this Critical Consensus does, the critics' rating becomes very reliable.

I thought you sheepishly admitted seeing the Smurfs ...

Karma: The Smurfs is in the bottom 25!!

Sacrilege!

If it doesn't win Best Picture, that will prove the Hollywood bias against the Blue-Skinned.

Avatar was good, but it sure didn't have Neil Patrick Harris!

KrAsH15: I would liked to see the ratings from critics who were heavily stoned.

One Bar: I haven't seen any of the top 13, and I've only seen 3 of the rest.

Predator should be on the top, simply as a measure of perfection. I won't hear any disagreements.

Of those, Drive was the best.
Best movie of the year, so far.

I couldn't remember the title of the movie for that joke, so I Googled "Sarah Palin movie." The first item in the list of search results was this gem of a synopsis:

Sarah Palin Movie Debuts to Empty Theater in Orange County ...
www.theatlantic.com/politics/.../07/sarah-palin-movie.../241983/
Jul 15, 2011 – "Why aren't you seeing Harry Potter?" an usher said to the reporter sitting alone in the audience.

Much funnier than my silly joke ...

One Bar: If it shows over here then I might dig out my Sarah Palin inflatable sex doll and take her along.
