john1576: I know times are hard, but folks are not helping future film production by buying knock off Movies. Los Angeles as a City has lost Billions of Dollars over the years to Bootlegging. You may not feel sorry for rich Studio Bosses, but cleaners, security guards, gardeners, canteen staff, many of these folks have lost jobs as belts are tightened. So 'make it Legal' when you buy your DVD and Games this Holiday.
Stinks_theSockPuppet: Arrrr! I know yer right John. Ain't nothing worse than a filthy pirate DVD. We're a proud lot and no Hollywood fancy boy is going to tell our story! Avast ye landlubbers! We boardin' yer computer now!
azer786: while i appreciate ur stand JOHN, HAVE U SEEN WOT CINEMAS CHARGE NOWADYS ? IT COSTS THE BEST PART OF £30 FOR A FAMILY TREAT AT THE CINEMA... THATS WHY MOST PPL ARE GETTING PIRATED DVDS AS ITS FAR CHEAPER TO WATCH AT HOME !!
john1576: Azer. I understand exactly what you are saying. May I say, the 'Movie Industry is not the Movie Business'. Movie Theatres are not part of the Movie making Industry. Suppose some one found a back door open in Universal Studios, you would not walk in and steal from the warehouse there. Suppose you knew a guy who could walk in that door and get DVDs, you would not buy them off him, you sound like a reasonable guy. But that is exactly what people are doing when they buy Pirate DVDs. They are buying stolen goods. Possibly, it is because the victims of this type of crime are so far removed from the criminal act, people think there are no victims, but there are. Thousands of folks in L.A. who work there making Movies are victims of this crime.
♠_Krash_♠: Hey john, did you know the movie houses themselves have been known to leak films onto the net themselves?
Movies that didnt receive good reviews during screener's,and movies that go straight to dvd.
Its a ploy they use to gain interest.
azer786: a valid point john but i still think it would bre too much to go tot he cinema and pay out to watch any movies espacially in the summer as its blockbuster season. I understant ur points but buying pirate dvds is a safe way to ensure ur not gna end up watching a film that wud b a total waste of monet at the cinema. Neither am i for pirate dvds as i have a large collection of original dvs of my own and visit the cinema regularly but im not against them either..
Hey Jules: I SAW THE TITLE AND THOUGHT THIS WAS ABOUT YOUR FAV PIRATE MOVIE...I FEEL JIPPED...AND SORTA BLONDE....
An0nymouse: THought this was gonna be a critique on the blockbusting Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy!
BTW id download a car if i could!
john1576: But you do not know what you are downloading. When you buy a movie at a store or on line, you are buying a product which is made within the guidelines of National and International Law. When you buy a Pirate DVD you have no idea what you are buying. Ever see that movie 'The Ring'. Subliminal Messages can be loaded into Pirate DVDs that piggyback into your mind in the movie images. They would soon be noticed if they were in Legal movies, but not in Pirate Movies. Don't think they can do this? Some guys just hacked into Predator Drone Planes using off the shelf Software.
john1576: Look Guys, all am saying is when you buy a Legal DVD you rights are protected and they are approved for sale. When you are sat there watching these Pirate DVDs you have no idea how they have been put together or what subliminal messages have been piggybacked onto the images in the movie.
flashie: i have searched numerous times on bittorrent for jear jet, v-max and mountain bikes but no joy yet.
i wonder if theres any truth in the stories about the dvd sellers involvement in smuggling, prostitution, etc?
if so it makes more sense to me not to buy these.
dvds are very cheap to buy in shops nowadays
john1576: Flashy. When I was walking tonight, some one came up to me and offered me some cookies to eat. No offence to them, but there could have been anything in those cookies. I did not know the people offering me the chow. Broken glass, rat poison, drugs, anything could have been mixed in with those cookies. When people buy Pirate DVDs there could be any subliminal crap mixed in with the movie. Some people here think it is far out to think that. Well I guess they do read the same newspapers as you and me. I can hypnotise people so I know what am talking about. They probably think hypnosis is a myth as well.
flashie: theres a (very entertaining) video/movie knocking about on youtube etc atm called 'the arrivals' - right up my street John. all about conspiracy, illuminati, eugenics, religion etc.
but im sure as it condemns western brain washing ie mass media corporate excesses - also has much flashing imagery and tenth of a second bits chucked in. i think this is the type of stuff youre talking about mate.
but the dvds i have seen bought from the dvd guy on building sites are such bad quality camera in the cinema rips i doubt theres any sophisticated mind control going on.
these gangs seem to just ramp out movies asap before we even get them in the cinema often.
and the guy i worked with who was caught buying a porno involving donkeys.
who needs to mind control when ppl demand that kind of shit?
swoo: where do you live that people go round offering cookies? I was offered a book today by Hari Krishna types ....
john1576: Flashy. I don't go for all this conspiracy theory stuff. But you are correct when you describe the technology these guys can use slip things into your mind. With DVDs you buy in the shops you are safe as they are bound by Laws and open to inspection. But when you buy the Bootleg stuff who knows where they were made, some modern version of Jones-town or Wako?.
Nosferatu: Yea we need law enforcement to c&@^y down on these pirates and not just in the movie industry, but the music industry too. Recently, I deleted and threw away all my porn, movies, and music and went out and bought a lot of it. I doubt anyone will follow my good example though.
flashie: ^ur right.
i used to download loads. but stopped. i was getting swamped with music i didnt have time to even listen to.
these days ill check stuff out online then buy it if its decent.
WAYTOBIG: Please dear Santa, bring little Johnny some brand new and pure Angel wings
So when Johnny becomes older he doesn't have to suffer all the punishments and the injustice, like the rest of us,looking to save some money here and there.
flashie: btw its not us
its the tony blair gorden brown obamas.
they really are crazy.
more than some bloke who goes mosque or church or not
♠_Krash_♠: Your isp can block sites for illegal downloading but they dont,so until they do,fcuk em,i'll keep doing it.
Governments can also make isp's block sites, but they dont,so fcuk them to.
And if your asking why they dont, its because they are making a killing by allowing it,So fcuk em.
How do they make money from it i hear you ask?
$100 for 50 gig per month on average here in oz
So if artist really want to be compensated, hit the isp's and governments up for their losses, but good luck with that.
(and dont let the yearly crackdown on a site dupe you into thinking governments are getting tough on it,theres to much money in it for them)
Sounds like someone has already been brainwashed by subliminal messages sent forth from 'legimate' DVDs by super-rich mega-conglomerate media companies.
Maybe u should start buying pirate DVDs than u wouldnt sound like a lobotomised puppet set loose by said media companies to taint the free thinking world.
'Must buy new 'Syx in the City boxset', 'Must buy Michael Jacksons Re-heated Greatest Hits', 'Must buy Snickers', 'Must Watch American Gladiators','Media Corporations Tell Me Is Good, so Must Be Good!' etc etc
