Los Angeles as a City has lost Billions of Dollars over the years to Bootlegging. You may not feel sorry for rich Studio Bosses, but cleaners, security guards, gardeners, canteen staff, many of these folks have lost jobs as belts are tightened. Movie Theatres are not part of the Movie making Industry. Suppose some one found a back door open in Universal Studios, you would not walk in and steal from the warehouse there. Suppose you knew a guy who could walk in that door and get DVDs, you would not buy them off him, you sound like a reasonable guy. But that is exactly what people are doing when they buy Pirate DVDs. They are buying stolen goods. Possibly, it is because the victims of this type of crime are so far removed from the criminal act, people think there are no victims, but there are. Movies that didnt receive good reviews during screener's,and movies that go straight to dvd. I understant ur points but buying pirate dvds is a safe way to ensure ur not gna end up watching a film that wud b a total waste of monet at the cinema. When you buy a movie at a store or on line, you are buying a product which is made within the guidelines of National and International Law. When you buy a Pirate DVD you have no idea what you are buying. Ever see that movie 'The Ring'. Subliminal Messages can be loaded into Pirate DVDs that piggyback into your mind in the movie images. They would soon be noticed if they were in Legal movies, but not in Pirate Movies. Don't think they can do this? When you are sat there watching these Pirate DVDs you have no idea how they have been put together or what subliminal messages have been piggybacked onto the images in the movie. flashie: i have searched numerous times on bittorrent for jear jet, v-max and mountain bikes but no joy yet. i wonder if theres any truth in the stories about the dvd sellers involvement in smuggling, prostitution, etc? if so it makes more sense to me not to buy these. dvds are very cheap to buy in shops nowadays john1576: Flashy. When I was walking tonight, some one came up to me and offered me some cookies to eat. No offence to them, but there could have been anything in those cookies. I did not know the people offering me the chow. Broken glass, rat poison, drugs, anything could have been mixed in with those cookies. When people buy Pirate DVDs there could be any subliminal crap mixed in with the movie. Some people here think it is far out to think that. Well I guess they do read the same newspapers as you and me. I can hypnotise people so I know what am talking about. But you are correct when you describe the technology these guys can use slip things into your mind. With DVDs you buy in the shops you are safe as they are bound by Laws and open to inspection. But when you buy the Bootleg stuff who knows where they were made, some modern version of Jones-town or Wako?. Recently, I deleted and threw away all my porn, movies, and music and went out and bought a lot of it.
