Best Trilogy StolenHeart: I'm not a sci fi fan, but I loved those movies as well. Maybe it was because of Michael J Fox, I dunno, lol Karma: Can one only pick movies that had only two sequels? I'd go with Godfather. Or the first 3 Bond movies. Or any 3 Pink Panther movies. CheeseburgerMAN: Yeah, Karma. I was gonna pick Indiana Jones Triolgy of course cause thats the best by far. but they added the fourth and now it isn't catergorized as a trilogy. StuckInTheSixties: The problem with trilogies is that they're always uneven. One or two good ones, and the inevitable dog(s). For a trilogy where ALL THREE films hold up equally, I'd have to go with A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Sergio Leone's so-called "A Man With No Name" movies with Clint Eastwood. But I'll go with the three Godfather movies. The first two were just so stupendous as to make the third seem lame, but only in comparison. Actually the third one was a decent movie. StuckInTheSixties: I am, of course, familiar with Akira Kurosawa. I'm sad to say that I'm not particularly taken with his films, however, sad because I know enough to know that he was a brilliant filmmaker, but I can't pretend to enjoy him if I don't actually enjoy him. (shrugs) StuckInTheSixties: First two. The downward slide began with #3, in my humble opinion. But those first two were incredible. Ripley is my favorite movie hero(ine). CheeseburgerMAN: Man, Sixties we used to have this online forum that included all my buddies from high school and we'd have massive voting tournaments including various heroes and foes from both reality and fictional worlds. It was, needless to say, a blast. (nostalgia post) StuckInTheSixties: I like Ripley because in the first movie she essentially had no choice but to become the heroine. And in the second, she was the only one who knew how serious an adversary the aliens were. All the Marines were cocky and confident, and didn't know what they were up against, and at the right moment, during the first battle, she simply pushed that wimpy Lieutenant out of the way and took over when it was necessary to save her own skin. At that point, it was clear who the boss of that outfit was. Ripley is tough as nails, yet breaks down in tears over the seeming loss of the little girl survivor. What a great character! StuckInTheSixties: I appreciate a good movie when I see it. Actually, Alien 3 & 4 aren't bad flicks. But those first two are really superb. And in different ways. The first one is just creepy. Cerebral. Dark. You don't get to see much of that thing until the end. The second one is like a rollercoaster. It's exhilerating. Heart pounding. The first one is deeper, more intellectual. The second is more action oriented, louder. TicoBrahe: im with self inflicted... I second Lord of the rings. Only a 268 million approx investment lol. ![]() StuckInTheSixties: The Matrix trilogy was a triumph of style over substance. I found watching the two I watched to be an excruciating experience. I thought the "storyline" was silly. azer786: definitely the Lord of the Rings trilogy is fantastic. how about the die hard trilogy ? although the fourth one was a good fim too. Blade 1 was good, 2 n 3 were shite, just like the matrix sequels ! john1576: Best Trilogy is Scream. Some ugly plonker was complaining about Alien 3. The Movie was among David Finchers first Movies Alien 1 and 2 were made by Ridly Scott and James Camarron. Boy I wish ugly people would get their facts right. Their facts are as ugly as they are. StuckInTheSixties: Yeah, of course. The first Alien movie was directed by Ridley (correct spelling) Scott, and the second was directed by James Cameron (correct spelling). Where did I say anything contrary to that? I won't argue about your very mature claim that I'm ugly. (laughs) azer786: hah boys play nice !! has anyone mentioned the bourne trilogy yet ? dey was great movies !!! | Movies Chat Room Similar Conversations |
