I did not know that there was anyone alive that even remembered there was another version out..
I, too, believe that nothing can compare to the classic. I have the original on DVD (very hard to find but I was able to find it). I downloaded the new one (it was a cam) just to see what it was like and if I could give you some advice... please don't waste your money seeing it in the theaters.. wait for it to come out on DVD if you are not like me and would download it from the net... *lol*

otcclass4ever: *laughs* understandable.. the movie came out in (I believe) the early 1980's so she was more than likely not even born yet... Did she watch it? If so, what did she think about it please?? I bet she thought it was to old fashioned with not enough special effects and such, right???? Sorry but most kids I know just go to watch a movie for the special effects (like with Avatar and movies like that)..I don't mean any ill feelings with your child and if I misjudged her please do forgive..

azer786: cant really remember the original, this was an ok effort in a way. mostly special effects thi=oguh but the acting was pretty poor !!!

i think they got to a point where they are established enough to taka chance on certain films that wont test them too much lol !!

xxzero: i was expecting another 300..or beowulf style of movie..and instead i got another troy..

disapointing movie..much worst than the original..and the only thing i still really like in the original clash of the titans..is harry harryhausen good old stop-motion creatures..

azer786: hahaha yeah so true. in defence of troy, it got compared to Gladaitor as it came out too soon after ! if u watch it on its own merits, its a good film really !!! better than the new CLASH OF TITANS !

xxzero: troy..deserves some credit for the battle sequences (still not better than gladiator opening battle)..but the plot it's just too long and boring..it's like watching alexander in slow motion..

this new clash of the titans..in my opinion is a serious canditate to win the razzie award for worst remake of the year..

as for remakes, theres a nightmare on elm street coming soon lol !! so hold ur votes !!!

otcclass4ever: From what I have seen as far as re-makes go... 90% of them don't compare to the original...

azer786: yep that is so true.. i can think of any that are as good !

xxzero: well at least alexander have the excuse that they wanted to make a rigorous adaptation of the REAL alexander and his time and culture..some persians might disagree..but it's more faithfull than 300 for example..

troy..based on a fantasy book..mostly wastes too much time in pointless subplots..the core of the story is the epic clash of two titans of ancient world..achilles vs hector..

Movies are out to get people to watch them so if they were even remotely based on more fact then entertainment then not that many people would watch it...sorry to say.. ;(

azer786: yeah i remeber mel gibson said the same thing about the patriot.. if u stick to the history then u might end up making 3 hours of boring film no one will watch !!
