To lose weight... (Page 3)

dawnluvsroo
dawnluvsroo: I have been on the 90 Day Challenge and its great ! I drink two shakes a day and there is over 100 different ways to make the shakes. I have lost 20 pounds in less than 3 weeks and have more energy than I have had in years !
Also, at 52 years of age , for over six months I have had hot flashes several times a day and now that I have started the Challenge I have not had one hot flash. It's so simple, just two shakes a day and a sensible dinner, That's it ! I am on the most popular kit called the transformation kit. It includes 60 meals, appetite control and essential oils, a metabolism booster and energy products that you mix into a bottle of water. All the tools and a great support system as well. Its less than $2.00 a day. I'll tell you for my money this is the one. I would spend that much if not more in a months time on food. It also has all kinds of promoters "Hulk Hogan" is one of them as well as "Jenny Lynn" a TWO TIME FITNESS OLYMPIA WINNER ! You can even get product free !! I love that ......... I had three of my friends take the Challenge with me and now I am on auto ship next month for a free kit ! My hat is off to the ones that can do it the old fashioned way but, with health issues, bad knees and a bad back I can't do a lot of exercise that most can do. My doctor told me that this is a good product and it is a great way for me to re-gain my health by taking off the weight that I have put on due to the lose of mobility. It has been a double edge sword for me, the loss of mobility and the weight gain. Now I will be able to have my knees replaced and have a much better recovery because of it ! Its called "Visalus" I could give you more info on it, Just email me at Dawnluvsroo @yahoo.com

chubbychick000: That's harsh Shannonjm, everyone can make bad choices and let themselves go at one point or another. We're not proud of it. Actually, we beat up ourselves about it every day. And there are other reasons besides being "lazy" for gaining weight. You can know something but not put it into action. You know, we're only human and food IS a temptation and some ppl use it for other reasons than just hunger, like emotional eating. That's no reason to call ppl names. As a former "lard ass" i found that hurtful.

LonelyFarmboy: The science of nutrition is too technical and difficult to master for a layman. I'll give you a nice idea to follow, combine food from all food groups (cereals, fruits, poultry, fats) in small portions, do little exercise or just walking for and hour. But do it regularly. Diet plans are boring and difficult to follow.

How much of each food groups you should take? Google for food pyramid, you'll see good details there.

LonelyFarmboy: a few glasses of water at room temperature half an hour before breakfast makes a lot of difference. Eat everything on face of earth, but reduce your portions, just keep away from fats and sugar. Keep doing light exercise or just jogging for an hour daily.

Those who loose weight fast, gain weight fast, tough dieting program or starving should not be a choice. Dear Lord, please help all those who want to lose weight and give them good health

mannym2011: Here's some simple things that worked for me, dropped from 240ish pounds to 170 in a bit over a year: Masterbate less often (It's supposed to make you conserve more testosterone, did give me a bit of energy I think), keep a jug of water and jar of assorted nuts at your desk, keep a dumbbell at your desk (Something to take the stress off between those respawns (

And well, just plain stop eating fast food and drinking pop. I think that mostly did it for me. I didn't do many other excercises outside of what was mandated for me in wrestling and football, last I played those was in highschool.

mikeatlanta
mikeatlanta: Hello Friends...

I am the only person in my family that didn't struggle with weight their entire lives. I say this because I wanted to let everyone know I am familiar with diets and dieting and the whole struggle with weight. I have heard a lot and observed a lot from my parents and siblings (6) who have always been extremely obese about how they have slow metabolisms and other reasons they couldn't seem to lose the pounds. It did not escape my attention that they were consuming massive amounts of food continuosly.

We were very poor and my parents were to proud to get food stamps, so as soon as groceries came into the house it was a feeding frenzy. I was a picky eater and there were many times I would go hungry when my mom - who was a very southern cook - would say "If you were hungy you would eat it."

Imagine my suprise when I quit smoking after 35 years and gained 15 pounds in one month! While there are many authorities that say smoking increases your metabolism, it was apparent to me that I had gained the weight because I was eating a lot more each day to deal with the nicotine cravings. I was not eating because I was hungry, I was eating anything and everything in sight just because. I realized it would be very easy to simply go and buy bigger clothes and continue to eat. But I also realized I would probably keep gaining weight at the same rate and would join my siblings in being 100+ pounds overweight in about 6 months.

I had never even had to even think about what I ate before. So I started making salads to take to work for lunch and I would have yogurt with some granola in the morning instead of my loaded bagels or the - god forbid - pastries I used to have that were catered in at the office. I got some low calorie puddings, you know the ones that come in 6 packs at the grocery store and I would put some granola on top when I was so hungry in the afternoon I couldn't stand it. Instead of my regular sodas I switched to 0 calories soda, really awful but after a while you get used to it. At home I make pitchers of artificially sweetened tea and lemonade, terrible but you get used to it. Everyone says drink a lot of water. Let's face it, water is boring and it sucks. I drank as much water as I could and hated it. And I had about a thousand pounds of popcorn when I got hungry at night, even though if you check the calorie count some of them are as bad as a bag of chips which I gave up completely and a lot of other things.

I ran on the treadmill for 40 minutes at 5 mph every night when I got home from work, hated it, but when I was finished I felt, like good about myself for some reason.

Long story long, it took about 6 weeks for the 15 pounds to come off and I quit the treadmill. I started eating whatever I wanted again with a little more care about fattening stuff and was amazed that I kept losing weight for another two weeks! In about 3 months I had gained the 15 pounds back.

At this time my life was way less structured than it was before and I didn't have the choices I had before - unemployed and on a very strict budget, so I began on a new diet. I don't eat anything until I get hungry. I don't mean I starve myself I just mean when I get up in the morning I don't eat if I'm not hungy. Just because it's breakfast time doesn't mean you need to eat. Sometimes I don't feel hungry for quite a suprising time, like 2 or 3 pm. Then I have a normal sized lunch. Sometimes I get hungry again a few hours later but I drink something (water or low calorie lemonade or tea) to put off the meal for as long as I can. It's hard to stay hungry. I don't know how many things are harder but it does help to keep fattening things and things you like to eat a lot of out of your house.

I got back down to my target weight (slim) quickly and don't seem to be having any trouble maintaining. I'm thinking that will be as long as I am willing to endure the discomfort of sometimes being hungry.

The thing I guess I want people to get from me is if you want to lose weight you are going to have to accept the fact that you will go for periods of time being hungry. It is an uncomfortable feeling and probably our instincts tell us it's not natural in today's day and age where everyone is always throwing food at you and everything you see and hear is about the latest greatest monster burger.

I DO have to say however that I personally feel that if you are an overweight person it is probably because you eat too much. If you have an unusually slow metabolism then the cure is too eat an unusually small amount of low calore foods, isn't it? Are you willing to do that, or is it more important to you to have the comfort of a full belly and the extra weight or the discomfort of being hungry sometimes and eventually - maybe in a very very long time - becoming a thin person?

Peace, everyone.
