cinfa: I was thin all my life until my thyroid stopped at the age of 42 and now for the last 11 years I have struggled with my weight. I can not get below 169 lbs to save my life. I am on medication for my thyroid and take regular blood test to make sure its working and the doctor says its ok but I still can't lose these pounds. I was NEVER OVER 120 lbs.
Bobbeyy: The best diet is: workout, reduce the kcal you eat per day and don't eat carbs in the evening (sugar = carbs too). I already lost 25kg (i guess its 55 in lbs?) by just eating less than I burn, working out regulary and not eating any carbs in the evening. At first you lose much water that's why you lose much weight at first but then it becomes smaller. You have to keep on doing the diet then, even if its hard and demotivating that the amount per week/month is much smaller.
And sorry for my spelling, english is not my first language.

oceanroze: Its all about excersice and eating in moderation ,we can eat anything we want but just know when to say when and dont over eat and abuse our body and stretch our stomic lining from pigging out ,look after ourselfs as only we can do it eat heathy too more fruit and vege and meat less sweets lol !!!
kishan chandra: the way i reduced my weight..
the actual way to reduce our body weight is to properly scheduling our diet with proper exercise at the same time....
because only controlling the diet factor and not doing exercise punctually..or only doing the exercise and not controlling the diet....willnot work..
we all know that whtever the food we eat,it takes about 8 hours to digest properly...
so,the food which we eat in the evening hrs..is the actual cause of increasing obesity...
because usually we use to take food (dinner) near about between 8.00 p.m.to10.00 p.m.
and then we usually go to sleep...therefore the food we ate ..in the evening hrs..will turn into fats..in our body....
so,the actual thing i m using is...
i m taking only pure vegetarian diet...
i avoid fried things and sweets to take..in my diet..
i use to take only vegetarian diet..
i use to take food before 1.00 p.m.
this food gets digested in our body nearabout upto..9.00 p.m.
then in the evening hrs..i use to take only salad and some fruit..
now about exercise...
i use to wake up early in the morning at about 5.00 a.m.
then.after daily routine i use to go to walk in a garden nearby....there i use to walk as fast as possible for 45 min..it would b about equal to 5 or 6 kms.distance walk..
(beginners are required to start walking for only 10 minutes in the beginning..then the time of 45 minutes can b achieved in about a month time..but remember not the very first day..)
then after resting for about 5 minutes...i use to do stretching exercise for about 15 minutes which includes shaping of lower and upper abdomen...lateral sides of belly...and some more exercise like sit ups and push ups..
THIS WAY I M USING THE ABOVE SAID METHOD...FOR ABOUT 12 MONTHS AND I HAVE LOST 21 KGS.OF WEIGHT ...I WAS OF112 KGS. BEFORE...AND NOW I M OF 91 KGS. I FEEL VERY LIGHT AS COMPARED TO MY PAST BODY STRUCTURE...
EVERY THING DEPENDS ON US...IF OUR WILL POWER IS STRONG.. WE CAN ACHIEVE OUR GOAL..

miss gege: kishan is correct, but my heart couldn't take it so i had the gastric bypass surgery and in less than a year have lost 185lbs
spankdmonkey: Okay there have been some good answers in this thread ,but basiclly chubby chick got it right eat healthy and you will lose weight .Someone or a few others said exercise .Well that is it in a nut shell put the two together and you then have sure success .Iam a food and nutritionist plus have a degree in fitness and health so have a better idea then most .
Dont even go the diet methods for a start everyone is different what works for one might not work for others ..
Rule 1. if you dont want to get fat dont eat fat = trim all fat of your meat,eat only lean meats drain all fat ,grill all meat and at the end of cooking use a towel or something and press all the fat out by pushing down on the meat ,Presto you now have about ten grams or more less fat every meal. P/S stay away from the gristle to .
Rule 2.Never eat till your full up it realy is a NO NO .People sit down to tea with lashings of baked potatoes meats gravy and it is all so beautifull and lovely that they chop in and full themselves up to the brim .Naughty naughty .what this does is bloats you stretches your lining of your stomach so the next time you eat you have to fill it more to fill yourself up and it grows and grows each time . Always only eat till youve had a ordinary meal where your not hungry but do not stuff yourself just eat comfortable and stop well short of filling yourself .
Rule3.cut out all cakes sugars startches @ most sauces ,and swap them for small amounts of gravy on your meal ,,instead of cakes and rubbish swap them for handfulls of sultanas ,nuts ,fruits ,salad, a lite yogurt a day .,lite milk .no cream .
rule 4 .do not crash diet or cut back on to much in a diet because your bound to failure so many people diet and set themselves up to fail because simply put they think that by not eating they are losing weight ,NOT TRUE . Because all that does is makes you tired ,lethargic ,No energy etc etc etc ,.What you do is have about 7 or even 8 lots of food a day but healthy stuff , A slice of raisan toast for breaky a fruit juice .or wholemeal toast .couple of hours later munch into a peice of fruit or sultanas you can buy a little packet some nuts or a yogurt .couple of hours later a nice salad sandwich a drink
couple hours later more fruit or a carrot or celery or anything like that nice fruit salad but no ice cream
Rule 5 .Exercise .Get of your bums and get out there and walk no one is saying you have to do a high impact routine .But atleast get of you BUTTS and walk briskly =POWER WALK for atleast half hour a day .A small stretch out warm up and walk for half hour if its to much do 3 lots of ten minutes throughout the day its also good for your mind and as you get fitter you will want to increase things speed ,length, or other exercise ,muscle tone etc ,but that comes after firstly its weight loss.
Rule 7 SET goals ,Small obtainabble goals leading to a bigger picture Work towards your goals and not away from them sink that into your head work towards your goals .
rule 8 Be consistent that is the trick to it all ,and dont forget to drink 5 to 7 litres of water a day .
There is lots of other short cuts to losing weight and things that will make it happen quicker ,like massage which breaks the fat and lard that has congealed around your body over the years a massage bereaks the fat up softens it up so its easier to walk of ,also a sauna before a walk,helps as it heats the fat and when fat heats it melts so that is the best time to walk it of,also wear jumpers you need to swet its no stroll in the park .No one is saying you have to exercise till you drop but a bit of resistence push yourself just a little bit .
rule 9 .motivate yourself put pictures up talk about where you want to go what you hope to achieve never lose site of the big picture ,dont make excuses to not train ,there is no excuse the benefits far out weigh anything eklse so in reallity it is the most important thing to do in your life .If you look good and feel good the rest falls into place good luck

spankdmonkey: another important thing to weight loss do not listen to anyone that is trying to sell a weight loss system or workout,or recipe, 99 percent of them are failures they are only trying to get you to join their gyms and programs because they want your money .A bit like a lot of them dating and single sites they are only after your money .Educate yourself about fitness and healthy food .that is the way or listen to people that are fully qualified
chubbychick000: I've had bypass surgery and hardly eat. I drink one cup of potatoe and yam soup ( made by blender) and eat maybe one yogurt a day, and i have already lost around 13 kilos! maybe more..... i had the surgery 3 weeks ago. My BMI met the cretiria at 42 and i wasn't loosing cause i couldn't stick to diets and wasn't exercizing so.... was the right thing in my case. But you guys just change your habits .Like spankdmonkey said, fitness and healthy food is the way to go. Doesn't have to be anything too strenuous. Brisk walking up to 40 min per day ( at least 4 times a week) plus seeing a nutritionist who will provide an eating program that is right for you is good for those who are not sure what and how much to eat.
chubbychick000: Oh and another thing which is important is getting enough sleep at night! Sleeplessness has been linked to eating more and obesity! Not sleeping enough will make you lethargic, thus too tired to exercize which will create a bad cycle. ( this coming from the source ) and also after exercise you keep burning fat in sleep. So practice sleep hygiene if you wanna loose weight and another tip- don't snack in front of the telly! Unless it's on something wholesome like fruit, yogurt or nuts.
And stay away from the internet!!
