medic17: It is not uncommon for people with healthy lifestyles to be diagnosed with leaky valves. I'm guessing you were genetically predisposed to developing this....I have an uncle who lives with the same thing. He copes by doing what you are already doing; living a healthy lifestyle. He was diagnosed 6 years ago, and so far so good.

B-P - WTF!!!

Dave, watch your lungs very carefully! A slight cold can go right into a pneumonia and with a pulmonary heart valve that doesn't pump adequately, you can develop pleural fluids easily.

Do you know which 2 valves are involved? The aortic and mitral valves on the left or the pulmonary and tricuspid valves on the right?

Did you have Rheumatic Fever as a child? Medical science have advanced so much that, unless in very severe cases, open heart surgery is not needed any more.

I'm glad you are feeling better on your current meds. Please query whether you are on anticoagulants. It is a schlep to have your INR tested every month but it can prevent very serious side effects.

Go well and I wish you well.

Don't play foot ball!!!
