PSORIASIS

KAVEKLIMBER666R
KAVEKLIMBER666R: Does any one else have psoriasis? It's hard to have a social life, never mind a love life. I would love to talk to someone, to have some company.

Mooseybrown: hey there, I first posted this info on the other site and then saw yours. Hope you are still around to read this! I used to get psoriasis on my scalp really badly. I used 'De Lorenzo Scalp Treatment'. You can get it from places like Price Attack and possibly chemists. It doesn't smell so great but who cares when you want to relieve the itch. The key is to put it on regularly so not just when it becomes itchy, but beforehand. I also suffered for years with eczema and some of you sound like you have eczema more than psoriasis. Either way, think about going to an Allergy specialist and ask for a skin patch test. They will test heaps of things against your skin. I found out I was highly allergic to acid foods, in particular oranges. You can also keep a food diary and eventually a pattern will form and a culprit/s will be found.

Jademeister: A good moisturizer and soap can help a lot.
No dyes or perfumes, hypoallergenic.

Vanicream is a good moisturizer and they also make a body soap too. Cediphil is also a good soap, and they have it in bar form, liquid form too.

both are cheap and, at least in the US, are sold at any stores.

Wonderbunny: Psoriasis is often caused by stress and clears up on its own in time. I had it both times that the love of my life decided to up and leave me. It's not contagious and friends and lovers are likely to be understanding about it. So try not to worry about it. Everything doesn't always need money and prescriptions thrown at it.

Serabi
Serabi: My sympathies. It is a difficult disease to live with. Try and keep your body as healthy as possible. Some studies suggest psoriasis symptoms can be relieved by changes in diet and lifestyle. Fasting periods, low energy diets and vegetarian diets have improved psoriasis symptoms in some studies, and diets supplemented with fish oil (in this study cod liver oil) have also shown beneficial effects.[47] Fish oils are rich in the two omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and contain Vitamin E, furthermore cod liver oil contains Vitamin A and Vitamin D.

Try and expose affected areas to short perionds in the sun - SHORT. Antepeol is great to relieve itchy effects. It is a unbelievably medidation.

unicorn1: Agreed with what Serabi had to say, except to be careful with the sun. My mother and brother both suffer with it, and when my brother exposes his skin to the sun, it almost clears it completely, however when my mother does, it breaks out much worse. This happens every single time, so just do a short period and see which effect it has on you.

unicorn1: E45 is just a really really heavy moisturiser as far as I know...but theres a cream called Betnovate that I know works very well. As far as i recall its a steroid so has to be prescribed. My brother uses Beta blockers too, but again, they only work for some people and its got its own drawbacks. Hope this helps if only a wee bit.
