kritz0: ^^ You're in Canada...go to the doctors yourself and get referred to a specialist. It's covered by Alberta Health Care if you get referred by your family doctor.
Your family doesn't have to know about it until you are comfortable to tell them.
Inquieto: Happiness doesn't exist, but if anything, try getting a prescription for an SSRI--Fluoxetine HCL should work well for the treatment of depression.

EraseThisFace: ^ There's no medication that "works" for everyone, or even the majority. There are always potential side effects involved - some mild, some life threatening.
Such a statement is highly irresponsible and comes across as a pharmaceutical advertisement.
Inquieto: For starters, I'm not trying to be anyone's doctor here, nor am I telling anybody they should take it. It's simply a suggestion, something to think about and ask their doctor on their next visit. Also, I would assume that the viewers here are all critical consumers, and I therefore wouldn't expect any of them to just self-medicate without first consulting their doctor. I don't know who you are, but you seem to be carrying a lot of anger that hasn't yet been resolved. Judging by the way you express yourself, I can tell you're an intellectual girl, but the way you approach/respond to others might not be the smartest way for you in the long run.
sara_jane_persad: hi there folks, i am a mother of 2 beautifull babies ,one of 2 yrs old and one of 10 months old very close age, i will be 44 yrs old in november b4 having my first child i never thought i'd have any children i was so certain that i couldnt have any not that any doc told me anything it was in my mind because at 38 yrs old i got maried and then boom lol well all that just to say i have a very very hard time coping with the stress, the crying, the demanding dont get me wrong i love my children to death but its taking all my change to deal with them , one of the reasons is I AM ALONE i mean i have hubby but he works every day but weekends and then when weekends come hes tired out of his week wich is understandable right , during the day he leaves a 5.30 am and is back home at 5 pm im all alone all that time with the 2 of them i some times lose it , i am lucky though because ive seeked help from the clsc and at least i have a woman that comes twice a week in the mornings to lend me a hand what do i do i SLEEP boy oh boy who said beeing a mom was easy no way , all this to say that well ive been diagnosed depression ,lack of attention , lack of affection , lack of my own space , and lack of time so im followed by a (psycologue) i dont know how to say it in english , i am part of face book talk about face book you can add zillions of friends but whats the sence of having so many friends if they dont come and talk to you , i even post notes asking if im anoying or bothering anybody just then one or two poeple come and ask WHATS WRONG R U OK only at those times it will get their attention , otherwize noo one talks to me and lord knows how i am in great need to talk to anyone just to talk and let it out it helps to talk no mater to who you talk to as long as that person listens and understands what your passing through, im not demanding any pitty i dont need pitty, all i want is some one to listen to me i want to spill my beeds if thats the way to say it ,,, if anyone is interested in talking and listening to me you can find me on face book the name is GLORIA ROCK ty to whom ever will come and talk with me ....

SophiaQG: yes,if u u got an mental sick?like despression？then u should do sth regularly,n u need to embrace the nature world.n .to hang around with friends,don`t ligner on one nagative problem.if it is necessary ,to to tell urslef that tomorrow will be better,it will work .hope u well.
focus on ur own problem ,don`t think about others,n yesterday has alwasy gone,tomorrow always will be better ,n u need to do sth good things today.

ThatGuyy: don't rule pharmaceuticals out.. it's true that they are not going to 'cure' you of the problem but the relief they can offer may give you the time needed for you to gain your sanity back..
spankdmonkey: Depression could come from many different sources or it could be medical depression so it is hard to say unless you know the individuals case .But a few tips never go astray .Firstly what is causing the depression your thoughts on why your depressed ? Thats the first thing you have to find out what is making you depressed when you find that out then you can deal with it .If it is enviroment think of ways to change your enviroment or set small goals on how to achieve it that way you focus on something worthwhile .
If it is caused by loneliness get in touch with people in self help groups local clubs as there is many others in your situation out there, also it helps to talk about your problems instead of being depressed and carrying the burden on your own .
If it is unemployement no money etc etc ,Take it up with centrelink or some job network let them know your depressed ,let your friends and family know if people know some will take time to talk and help you ,when this happens it helps alleviate the depression .
Now if your depressed because you feel down on yourself and have a low self esteem for any number of reasons ,Try to practice the way you think ,You might not be able to change your enviroment or your unemployment or loneliness but you can change the way you think about it and the way you deal with it .
thus changing the way you feel .For instance a low self esteem ,Is easily fixed by taking up a hobby .
something that your good at like painting joining a group of mothers that get together with their kids at the park every day ,Take up some sport for yourself or a team sport .Fitness is one of the best things for alleviating depression .If you look good and feel good you think good .
Try to practice being more positive with everything as soon as you feel down on yourself push it aside immediately and say to yourself this isnt helping me and think of something good or imagine something good happening even if you make it up in your mind ,Pretend you won lotto and done all these wonderfull things atleast it is making you think good instead of depressed .Change your thought paterns .
Above all else see your doctor,, if it is a medical depression .
Motivate yourself ,keep busy ,think good things,talk to others ,fantasise , it stimulates the brain and makes you feel good .have fun do fun things like go to the beach the markets ,a movie or anything that makes you feel good .

Like:- everybody think them self that their problem are biggest, they did great mistake on their life, they have no way out, their life is totally ruin etc.
We just need to understand our self that nothing can ruin our life, just way of our thinking ruin our life our self, if we have problem every problem have way out also, nothing is biggest mistake in life. Just we need to understand our self, every step of our life is beginning towards wonderful journey. no one knows when our journey ends so no need to worry much about it. just try to do better and enjoy what ever you have with.
No medication can relief from depression, only way of our thinking, meditation n yoga can give relief from depression. wish everybody have wonderful life n get relief from depression. keep smiling n be happy always.

CourtGesture: LOL.....I've been rather depressed lately and seem to lack any ambition. Somebody told me today that basically this was because I wasn't a "real man". I lack ambition and all desire in life because I'm not "manly". LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL

shirelle valentine: Yeah im depressed have been 4 6years thanks to my mother! i bin on and off meds since i was diagnosed, they help in either two ways 1) giv u a lift. 2) bring u down. At the end of the day they dont hide what ur thinking about the problem is still there, u will always have the problem unless u sort it out, u will always have the same negative thought prosesses. Y not try meditation or hypnotherapy. They say evry is different rite but we all complain about the same things when it comes to depression i.e. 'im not gud enuf', 'im a bad parent', ' i shunt luk like this', 'y am i different' ect ect. Its a mental plague that is eating the world up. Evry 1 is suffering in some way, evry 1 is hurting. Love to u all xxxxx
