Can Fruit Make You Fat? StolenHeart: I've been trying to change my lifestyle for months now, but suddenly find myself gaining weight. not losing. I have cut out nearly all soda intake, limit carbs, and work out at least an hour a day 6 days a week. However I have also increased my fruit intake. What gives and why are my efforts being sabotaged? Kinny: Actually you suppose to lay off the fruits for two weeks, and then slowly introduce the food back into your diet, and you also have to monitor your fruit intake as well, as some of the sugar from fruits also can make you gain weight. Best of luck And now where is my cookies and brownies StolenHeart: It's tooo tempting baking those things now But how bout u make me one of those cool diplomas for me to post in my gallery and I will gladly bake you some more goodies Flyx: you will never go wrong with fruit stolen... fruit and veggies are the healthist things you could ever eat on a diet (tofu for protein if you like it) don43015: Well, that's got to be frustrating. I never would have guessed that fruit would make you fat. I recently started replacing some junk food with fruit. I figured the fiber in it would be good if nothing else. Now I find I like the fruit better than those doughnuts I used to eat. persianangel: do not cut on your fruits. what you need to do is eat smaller portions more frequently during the day. this will speed up your metabolism. Also eat celery. Your body will consume more energy trying to digest the celery than the actual calories that this vegetable contains. Eat foods high in fiber such as oatmeal (the regular kind without any added sugar). you can add either skim milk to it or water... this will add bulk to your diet and make you feel full. Its best to cut down on the carbs but do not increase your fat intake...eat lean meat, lots of fish.. drink at least 8 cups of water ( if its on the colder end you're body will have to use energy to warm it up)...meaning you'll use up more calories. All in all , the best of luck to u. If anyone wants any advice from a nurse, msg me. neptune: I've been having alot of fresh fruit smoothies lately and my tummies all of a sudden got big. It never occured to me it could be coz of the fruit Flyx: fruit, like a lot of things, if consumed too much, your body is overloaded and it will be stored as fat persianangel: yes that is true. it will get stored as fat if you eat excess amounts. If you body cannot burn it off, it will convert it to fat. Eat everything in moderation, just dont cut it out completely. Alot of fruits like blueberries have antioxidants in them which help prevent cancer. There are two ways to lose weight: 1) the fast way, which you will ultimately end up gaining the weight back plus more. This is because you slow your metabolism and in essence you arent really losing that much weight, its mostly water weight which will come right back. 2) the Slow and more efficient healthy way. This may be a long process however it will be a life altering one. You will have a better chance losing the weight and keeping it off. p.s If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is not true. aka diet pills.. a lot of these products have very many detrimental effects. Anyways as I said before, eat in moderation (not until you feel stuffed), cut your meals into several smaller portions so you can eat more frequently throughout the day. Remember this will increase your metabolism. Drink plenty of water and get at least 30 minutes of good exercise everyday. You can simply do this by walking or parking your car further away from your destination. Walk up the stairs, stand on a bus... anything that burns calories will help you trim those unwanted pounds Autumn: Muscle weighs more then fat. Perhaps you are losing the fat and adding muscle. Are you losing inches? If so then you are losing fat and gaining muscle. Fresh fruit and veggies are good for you WaxItYourself: while fruit is good for you, certain fruits also consist of a lot of sugar which, when not burned off, turns to fat. However it is still very healthy and should be eaten, just in moderation if you want to lose weight. rick: if you are working out that much, did you at first notice any change in your weight or yourself physically? Most people put on weight when they exercise to LOSE weight. This is because muscle is more dense than fat so you might look different but weigh more. chronology: Wax. I would be surprised if anyone actually put on weight eating fruit. Also the sugar in fruit is different from the sugar you find on the kitchen table. Fruit has 'fructose' sugar table sugar is 'Sucrose'. The biggest down side to eating fruit a lot is that the fibre in most fruits stimulates it's movements through the intestines (in other words it only takes about 24 hours to go through your system). What that means is that your Colon does not have enough time to 'squeeze' the material going through it to extract minerals. The Golden rule is just eat the same amount of fruit as most sensible people. Most people don't eat enough citrus fruit. So their vitamin C levels are rock bottom. Wampum6: Body chemistry can enter into it. Although fruit in moderation is good for most people, even a moderate amount, depending on what it is and how the body reacts can bring bad news. Wampum6: Google something like fruits and veggies matter, and look around. You can find out a lot of information. There is a ton out there. tina_time7: Hi, I see you posted 12 years ago but if you would like my input I am open to share, just ask. | Health Chat Room Similar Conversations |
