RTS games top five BAD WOLF_: 1: Supreme commander 2: Command and conquer red alert 2 Yuri's revenge 3: Ruse 4: Command and conquer Tiberian wars Kane's wrath 5: Age of mythology rise of the titans BAD WOLF_: Actually the purpose was to see what everyone's top five would be... But can't edit the title so Wild__: 1) Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge 2)Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour I prefer Generals when playing against a bot, but RA2 is way better against another person. 3) Steel Soldiers 4) Conflict Zone //Edited from War Zone Despite being an old console game Conflict Zone had a strong focus on maneuver warfare with an emphasis on tanks. Also, when controlling a large amount of units you can select 'attack helicopters' and either omit or select attack helicopters exclusively. I've played other RTS games that aren't note worthy. Supreme Commander looks good tell me more. //Edited to include Steel Soldiers, how could I forget that game. (Edited by Wild__) BAD WOLF_: Console rts games are usually limited in how you can command but better than nothing. I made the error when I was young of getting Starcraft 64 Supreme commander imo is the pinnacle of strategic rts games, it's scale is enormous and you often have to observe multiple fronts with hundreds of units Wild__: Yes indeed, console games of all genres are limited compared to computers. I played console games a lot until I got a laptop. Now I only game with a mouse a keyboard. Ah, a quick Google search and... Conflict Zone was the name of the game. Does Supreme Commander have a fleet based structure (i.e. A battleship with frigates and destroyers to protect it) or is it more like 100 Kirovs and 100 Apocalypse tanks. BAD WOLF_: Actually you can play either way, it's a mass production style game creating dozens of units at a time. There are four tech levels 1 2 3 Experimental Tech1: features frigates, attack subs and spy subs Tech2: features destroyers and cruisers Tech3: features battleships, aircraft carriers and tactical missile subs Experimental units vary upon faction suffice to say there are massive Mobil fortresses of air and ground variety and even submersible aircraft carriers capable of constructing aircraft a onboard Wild__: That sounds awesome. I was looking into space based rts games awhile back and I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume. I will look into buying it. BAD WOLF_: Make sure you have a good amount of time on your hands it's not a fast paced game like C&C. You've gotta raise many factories and produce units almost constantly. As for space based rts games I only know of Star Wars empire at war and Star Wars galactic battlegrounds Wild__: Yeah, you can expect any Star Wars game regardless of genre to be top notch. If you Google 'rts space fleet games' you will see many more like Starcraft mentioned above. that game looks good too. BAD WOLF_: One very interesting game I've played that I'm not sure you can find now is Earth 2140. Great variety of units and a unique way for units to capture structures. You can pretty much put infantry in any structure and it takes enemy infantry entering the structure to clear yours out and vice versa Wild__: Can you set up head to head games with Supreme commander? If so your harem of hot babes here on wire will hate me for taking up all of your free time. BAD WOLF_: Ha!. Here check this out, it's technically the expansion but you can see one of my favourite units the UEF experimental Mobil factory fortress "fat boy" BAD WOLF_: Wow that's a throwback, but for it's time it looks awesome. I recently came upon an awesome WWII rts game called R.U.S.E, it focuses less on construction and tech evolving and much more on using various position strategically and tactically Wild__: I saw that game today but Company Of Hero's looks better. https://fngraduategamer.wordpress.com/2013/05/11/the-10-best-real-time-strategy-or-real-time-tactics-games-part-one-5-to-1/ BAD WOLF_: Coh looks sweet, I've heard nothing but good things about it. I think though ruse and coh are different styles though, I see coh focuses on a slightly smaller scale too Wild__: I'm expecting a windfall soon and a couple of genres are on my list but I require good online play. The computer bots are so damn predictable. I need a 1rst person shooter and a good rts because I has moods. | Games Chat Room Similar Conversations |
