sumkindowndrfl: I'm so trying to get a recipe to you but keep getting distracted. It's a veggie lasagna I made for my vegetarian daughter and it turned out so delish! I don't have many measurements..just winged it. If I don't get it to you tonight, I for sure will tomorrow.

KeithJ: sugar cream pie,,,,born out of the great depression era .
1 Gram cracker pie crust or make your own regular crust.
1 12 oz can condensed milk.
1/2 cup of sugar brown or white .
1 tsp corn starch
1/4 tsp of cinnamon and 1/4 nutmeg also if you like.
1 large egg.

you can make it chocolate too if you like with coco powder.

put in mixing bowl and mix well with whisk or large spoon
until mixed well with some bubbling look to it.

pre heat oven 325 degs Fh.

put the mix into pie shell
and cook for 35 to 45 minutes ( all ovens were not created equal so just kep an eye on it the first time from 30 mins on)
you can tell it is done when it gels over and has a sligh rise to it.
but sinks back down when cooled.

I have made this pie since a boy when i watched my grandmother make it.

SunshineDeb
SunshineDeb: the ravioli lasagna sounds great, so does the pie and meatloaf
I make meatloaf burgers:
ground beef (whichever cut you prefer) 1 lb
Italian bread crumbs, pepperidge farm or make your own, 1/8 to 1/4 cup or so (I tend to eyeball this)
about 1/8 cup milk
well-chopped onion, to taste but I use about 1/4 + cup or so
pepper (i use black)
parsley flakes, about 1/2 tablespoon ( i love the color of parsley in my food)
dash of salt

you can oven bake these or pan fry them.. they should be moist, so if they aren't, next time add more milk.

Hope you enjoy

sumkindowndrfl: Yummylicious. I'm gonna share my chili recipe cuz I just made it and it's on the stove simmering. I know most ppl know how to make it but just in case there is someone out there that doesnt.. This is just a small batch but you can double everything if you have more people.

Chili:

Half a pound lean ground beef
Half a pound sweet or spicy Italian sausage
One medium sweet onion cut into chunks
White pepper
Garlic
Sea salt
Fresh ground black pepper
Chili powder
Cumin
Red pepper flakes
One can diced tomatoes, undrained
One can red kidney beans, undrained

Brown onion, ground beef, and sausage in a dutch oven. I don't add any oil to brown it.
Season the mixture with garlic, sea salt, black pepper and white pepper.
Add diced tomatoes and kidney beans and stir mixture.
Season to taste with remaining spices. Sorry I never measure stuff. You'll need a healthy amount of chili powder and cumin. Sometimes I add a little cilantro too and prefer fresh tomatoes but didn't have any.
Bring to boil and then simmer for at least half an hour.

You can top with chopped green onion, sour cream, shredded cheese or crushed tortilla chips.
I serve this with cornbread and usually add a dollop of sour cream to my cornbread mixture.
