Why do we have separate bathrooms?

Pragmatic Aristocrat
Pragmatic Aristocrat: Not that I care really. It makes no difference to me. However a lot of trans people end up having issues when it comes to this since they want to use the bathroom for their gender not sex.

Gender:Mind
Sex: Physical body

However this made me wonder. Why is it we always separate people by bathrooms and they dont just have Co ed bathrooms? I mean I understand having separate locker-rooms of course. However most public places have co ed/Family bathrooms now. So whats the reason for the separation to begin with?

NadineHeart: Sometimes facilities have coed loos, but that means only one person can go at a time usually. It's just easier to have 2 separate loos.

Pragmatic Aristocrat: @NadineHeart: Actually no. Its coed group bathrooms. There is always ones at large stores like Walmart or the mall and they can have a good number of people. So its not just a single person its basically just like the chicks bathroom but really big. The main different in the males bathroom is they have urinals.

Laceysworld: There is a creepy man for every 50 men. There would be a creepy one hanging around in each bathroom in the world. It's also uncomfortable to discharge waste into a toilet with the opposite sex around.

Would you feel comfortable crunching down on the can if you see that I walked right in?

Pragmatic Aristocrat: @Laceyworld: I think it would be just as embarrassing pooping with a male or a female in the bathroom. Mostly because when you come out of the room and it smells bad they know you made the smell. Generally why I like going when no one is in the bathroom or sometimes I just sit with the door closed and hope the other people finish washing their hands and leave before I walk out. No witnesses, no shame.

Outbackjack: . Some of us men might not care but women do have a right to feel safe in the toilets.I feel happier about this knowing that it is less likely that a rapist can get to my daughter.

sebtheanimal: The next stall. People should not be confused which restroom to use. Use the one intended for your body. If you feel like someone else inside your head then keep it to yourself, nobody wants to know what you feel like while they're trying to take a leak.

quarks: Them need be seperate.

I do not wish walk in a restroom and see men standing there. This would tell me to leave for safety. But if it coed, there would be reason them there and this is dangerous. I like to be assured that if man in restroom I use he is up to no good.

If could trust all people and know safe, I really do not care who in stall next to me.

Outbackjack and Seb seem make clear valid points.
