Paying for wastefulness (Page 2)

Wild__
Wild__: Nah, the other day I bought a cheap beer and poured it out in front of some homeless guys and then set the empty can down just to watch them fight over it. Next time I'll tear it in half (wealth redistribution) because its not fair that one guy got the entire can. (the rich getting richer)

ghostgeek: Personally I wouldn't have bothered buying the beer but it's your money so you do what you want with it. Just show them the money and tell them the last one standing gets it. Less waste that way.

Wild__: Why worry about waste? After all the world is gonna go KA-BOOM! (in approximately 4.5 billion years)

Besides, the look on their faces..... Priceless!

the real slim DEEPy
the real slim DEEPy: the wastefulness that costs is the confusion of quanity for quality. people buying 3500 sq foot homes, with vinyl all around, and cheap construction, cost more to maintain and heat/cool then a smaller home all brick, with no drainage issues. buyijg from wal mart means a built-in handicap, and short functional life. throw away electronics cost more cash, resources and pollution in the long run; as opposed to boycotting sony, and going for a yamaha 6 series, a denon , or, even, a jvc- would blow less speakers due to lower thd levels, should better, and last longer- due to the lower head inherent to low thd levels.

ghostgeek: Getting off this planet and going somewhere else is a better option than carping on about dwindling resources. Making it happen, though, is another matter entirely.

Wonderbunny: Eventually, of course, we'll have to escape to another galaxy, then another universe, since all things die in the end.

ghostgeek: If some people are to be believed there will come a time when all the suns have burnt their fuel and died. The universe will be cold and dark. If Humanity was still alive in that distant time it might have gained the power to create universes. Man become as God, creating himself.

LiptonCambell: That'd be sweet, but considering 200,000 years ago our species first appeared, and you're talking about over 100,000,000,000,000 years in the future(100 trillion), I'd like to think that if our ancestors survived that long, that they would have long since stopped being human(if we take the sloppy conclusion of "every million years a new species of man will appear", then there should be over a hundred million different points of evolution in store for us before the end of time.....and that's only if we evolved together....but that's not likely to happen- some people will evolve to harsh environments, others will evolve to better survive space, ect - it's like language- if some people are isolated for long enough(like the States and Australia versus England), they'll develop dramatically different than the people they began as)

ghostgeek: There's no knowing the future but the way I see it, mankind will be lucky if it's still around in a couple hundred years. The way machines are developing and especially artificial intelligence, in a hundred years or so we'll be obsolescent. Maybe that's part of the grand plan, it there is a cosmic plan, that is. Human kind as precursor to something completely different. Just speculating.

bitebackchat: There has been talk in the UK for paying a charge for waste disposal if you have too much rubbish. I disagree for business, retailer or domestic you pay for your goods and pay VAT you pay taxes for collection of rubbish now why would you pay yet another surcharge for goods which are yours bought and paid for with tax added to do with as you please because there is too much wastage.
