garrylawson3073: spacing of words is important thing in writing , if you know how to write its an at , space between words the way you speak them , a space equals the time you take to mention each word clearly , then a coma is 1 second take a breath in , a colon equals 2 seconds before you start the next sentence, , if you remember the rules , you will be able to write and speak the sentence.

Plumpcherry: I understand your spacing comment. I’m not sure about everything else.

I’m really lost about how a colon works.
Can you please explain?

Can you explain the rules for me too?

.:;()”.,?!’ How are they used in a complete sentence?

garrylawson3073: colon is the end of a sentence , its rest from get timing right and you will speak clearer , its like taking a big breath and exhale before a deep breath to read the next line. speaking has a lot to breathing , timing is the main question

Fog Swept Glade: That shouldn‘t happen. Periods should be used in acronyms.

Fog Swept Glade: U. S. A. allows people to know that a proper abbreviation contains whole words, & may require reference.

Plumpcherry: The USA don’t allow; the USA schools should show and teach people how to use abbreviations.

People have a choice to use periods, or not to use periods when writing USA (U.S.A).

Because the abbreviation for United States of America is world wide known people have a choice.

If the abbreviation for the United States of America were not nationally known there would be no choice.

Aura: Or you could get Grammarly, focus of the thing you want to express and let the program do the whole rule of grammar thing for you. It's kept up to date, so you know you'll put out something that's both correct and easy to read.

Aura: It is also as good as impossible to be the editor for your own writing. Because you know what you meant to write, you won't see the mistakes you made. Every writer needs an extra pair of eyes on their work.

Leda Muir: I used Grammarly sometimes because even I'm American I have a Greek family so my spelling isn't 100% but even Grammarly isn't 100% correct on moments. I made once a phrase which had to be I was and Grammarly said it was wrong that it had to be I were and I know it was wrong.
