Language (Page 3) CJ_Speed: have studied Spanish which is my best language i prefer reading everything in it, studied German for a short amount of time and can ask questions and give simple remarks and all that good stuff. Now Russian is my new challenge big step from Spanish but learning languages are fun =D...best way in my opinion is through a lot of listening and reading with that i find output based skills come naturally when u passively understand grammar structures and vocab.  Metaverseguy: My uncle studied German and a friend of mine took a few Russian classes. Russian is one of those difficult languages that has a different alphabet than all the Western languages. I was reading the introduction in the dictionary some odd day. Funny enough they talk about the origin of words and show a few paragraphs in Old English and Middle English to compare. Old English is of course much different, but Middle English is so close that you could decipher the meaning of a paragraph you didn't know. It seemed kind of Tolkien-esque reading through those extinct alphabets and seeing them side by side with English. Definitely a cool experiment though. | Education Chat Room Similar Conversations |
