Income Inequality Metaverseguy: Do you think income inequality is preventing poor people from acheiving a "middle class" level of income? Rich get rich and the poor get poorer is actually true by several different studies. A french man recently won the pulitzer prize or nobel prize by showing how investment income outweighs the growth of salary income. So a billionaire can easily double their wealth while the avg person improves their income by 2% or less per year. Find out what your local senator, governor, representative feels about this issue and what they are doing about it.  Captain Canada: Why people bother with finding way the rich get richer,that's wasting time and energy on your behalf Use that energy and research how to make your first million bucks,the rest is easy,like you said the rich can easily double their wealth Metaverseguy: Why can't just winning the lotto be easy? I've heard of several stories where people were able to become millionaires after having a small bank account. Most say to simply take it slow and always save your money, constantly adding more money into your retirement, and making good investments. So after 20 years they can turn $1,000 into a million. But it seems like very little fun in between. Like maybe one vacation, hardly ever eating out, shopping at the discount store, moving into an area where they can save more each month rather than spending it all on rent or mortgage, avoiding buying luxury cars or expensive items. Why have all that money if you are never gong to spend a penny of it? I read about some kid who lived in the projects or something, relying mostly on government aid as a child and then becoming a millionaire very young by about 19 or so. He didn't win the lotto but it was mainly through the investment of one person and he ended up losing quite a bit of that million on bad investments himself. Captain Canada: So why in hells ass rim are you bring up such matter I rather drive my pickup my car my motorcycle they all old but all payed for they are mine and not some financial firm Yeah you keep hearing stories about bank accounts again stop hearing and place yourself in position to have that big account  Metaverseguy: I kind of went off on a tangent there. But one of the main problems with income inequality is that the rich have such an advantage on earning huge sums of money on someone who grew up poor. Since it requires money to make money a poor person has to worry about basic needs rather than investment income, rely on financial aid and grants for college, and will more likely than not be always behind in life because of it.
The examples I gave above simply show how difficult it is to not only raise yourself out of poverty to be well-off, but to be wealthy. More likely than not the majority of people born in poverty will depend on jobs and employment, rather than look for investment opportunites, business opportunities, real estate, stocks, etc. This puts them at greater risk for health problems and more potential to commit crime. Not only is this bad news, but the income gap between the rich and poor continues to grow. The rich continue to get richer while the poor stay about the same. Things are getting much better for the extremely wealthy. Now CEO's are able to make 300x the amount of the average employee when 50 or 60 years ago it was 7x. Despite all this extra profit it is not spreading down in a top-down approach or "trickling down" as Ronald Reagan would say. Wages and salaries don't reflect the company's profits and earnings. Captain Canada: I can bet you that rich person don't have a play station or a Xbox or whatever they are called those game apparatus things that occupy some people's time and energy that unables them into healthy productive lives or even worse to tired to look for a job Examples. Metaverseguy: The owner of the TV store paid less than $1000 for that TV and sold it to him for $3000. Then they financed it to him so they earn more money by interest. They paid the employee who works there and sold it to him $10 per hour. So $3100 - $1000 - $10 = $2090 of profit. That means for every dollar created 50 cents is automatically given to the richest and 99% of the remaining people are left to fight over it and divy it up. What I don't understand is why this small concentration has to be the largest income earners. Can't someone with 10 million turn that into 100 million rather than someone with 5 billion turn that into 10 billion? By 2016 these numbers are supposed to increase and the richest people will control more than half the wealth of the remaining 99% of people. How can these people always be making positive growth? Economies go up and down, businesses go bankrupt, yet how do these people avoid making any losses? Metaverseguy: I was reading the steel mogul Andrew Carnegie was worth about 500 million at one time. He donated about 90% to charity. Steel is where he made the majority of his fortune. With railroad expansion and steel commonly used in skyscrapers he was able to produce it cheaply and get contracts to sell hundreds of tons of it. All by the formulas of some scientist. Today China is one of the biggest manufacturers of steel. Captain Canada: About Carnegie donating 90% to charity is somewhat debatable,either you give to charity and receive and tax credit and become a hero in the eyes of the 99%of the low end incomers or pay huge amounts in taxes as Capitals and Gains taxes into goverment that misuse it in stupidity projects.
