Ever caught in a money scam?

Metaverseguy: Anytime I hear the words opportunity to get rich it's usually followed by a snake oil salesman with some type of 12-18 month long program of study, followed by years of unemployment and debt. These schools and businesses pop up almost everyday and I'm surprised they are legal, from MLM schemes to ponzi schemes, to businesses that fail to pay the minimum wage it's a surprise anyone ever gets rich.

It's always initially offered really high like 1-5 grand for a month long program, or for some DVD's, or a book, but with promises to make upwards of one million in a year or so. They most likely rent the expensive cars and mansions for the audience, but don't even own them. This reminds me of the whacko Kevin Trudeau who had one scheme after the other and ended up in prison multiple times for problems with the IRS.

Fortunately, I haven't been caught up in this, but have received several fraudulent checks with the criminals trying to get me to wire them money before the bank realizes the check is bad and I would get stuck with the bill.
