adena: 1-Anita Blake Vampire Hunter by Laurell K Hamilton (though there are other beings like shapeshifters and ghouls inside)

2-Darkyn Series by Lynn Viehl

3-Books by Anne Rice (she's like, the mother of all vampire books)

4-Sookie Stakehouse by Charlaine Harris (Sookie's human, btw)

Well, these are just some of them. I don't know if you'll like them but these are among my favourites. Maybe you should try An Interview With A Vampire by Anne Rice.

All the best!

john1576
john1576: 'Interview with a Vampire' is a well written book. But you can't beat the masterpiece, 'Dracula'. Curiously Bram Stoker actually based his book on 'facts' about Vampires. He never visited Transylvania, all his descriptions of the district are from travel books he read. Ever since it was published Dracula has never been out of print. Along with John Bunyan's 'Pilgrim's Progress' it seems set to go on for ever.

abstrectchrist: considering Anne Rice started out writing erotic books, Anne Rice would be the better of them naturally(though she's now got a Catholic Stinkfisting blocking any recognition of her earlier works). Bram Stokers book i couldn't stand reading due to the language barrier, it's definitely british and old school.

techno_hedonist: I loved Interview With The Vampire. The second book in the series The Vampire Lestat was okay, but by the time I got to the end of the third book, Queen of the Damned, I was turned off. Interview is still worth the read though! It's great on its own.

Nosferatu: Vampire does not need to be capitalized since it is an imaginery race. Thou wouldn't say "we saw the Elves."

KWeb: For anyone that wants a different type of modern vampire storyline check out The Strain and The Fall, written by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. Can't wait for the third book to come out Eternal Night. Good read!
