favourite book/writers (Page 2) talis: i like books from E. M. Remarque, E. L. Doctorow, G.G.Márquez, E. B. Singer, also i was really obsessed by Robert Holdstock (Mythago Wood, Lavondyss, etc.) when i was younger phoebeso: Moment in Peking by Lin Yutang; Waiting by Jin Ha; The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck(nobel prize winner). These three books are all about Chinese people, but are written in English originally. Very good ones! Currently my favourite's Gone with the Wind. There's an american historic romance named The Century, which kept me stay up till 4am.....really wonderful! Rach74: I liked Flowers of Evil by Baudelaire and to go with it The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. These two books are about living a decadent or self indulgent life and how empty life can feel once youve exhausted your senses with too much beauty and pleasure. (I moved on from these ideas now that years have passed since 1)my discovery of these books and 2)the life experiences i went through which complemented my understanding of these books,) At the time I was dealing with depression in the fact that I was sorely disappointed time after time by the "prizes" i worked so hard for. in that way i got the things i wanted in this life and experienced the same feelings of boredom or "ennui" mentioned in baudelaire, and in small ways even turned to a more corruptive way of life due to a desperate need to FEEL! igvy780: poems by allen ginsberg is what im reading now. the child prodigy to the bard, the man is a poetry genius. oh and had finished reading fear and loathing notes funny as hell. hunter s thompson is wierd but factually honest and humourous in the most wrong ways ever. love it PerpetualDreamer: Favorite Authors.
