I've practiced Karate, Ti quan do, juditsu, judo, and other stuff, but the most PRACTICAL is DEFINATLY Krav Maga, its Isreli, used today. Not allowed for competition, it has literally NO RULES! it applies the BEST in every matial art, and throws it together and also uses weapons such as guns, no more the sticks, gunfighting is what we need. It also is meant for every angle an enamy can imagin, and closer areas work just as well, since a small amount of kicking is used........CHECK OUT KRAV MAGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay... its been a while since anyone posted somein here... And there is too many comments to read... So here is my opinion... Everyone has a different strength in martial arts. Like my friend is big, strong, and punching him does nothing. I am small, fast, flexible and double jointed. I could use samba against him, that could be my strength, and I could win, and if he used samba against me, he would loose. OR!!! If I used boxing against him, and he used boxing against me, he would win. Its all a matter on what are your physical strengths.

Now there are SOME martial arts that I find can do little harm, but are not useless. Like TaeKwonDo. Which is mostly kicking. I mean.... for like that kinda martial art, it depends on the person. But generally speaking, you should learn a martial art that involves more of your body. This is my 2 cents... sorry for ranting on like dis.

I want to add, I LOVE MARTIAL ARTS! And I happy to see that there are some here who are interested in it like me. And it makes me more happy that there are people who know more martial arts than me. More for me to learn from.

acually i think kra maga (Israeli) is best martial art in the world, because it combines with animal instinct i.e. biting, dirty fighting, used byt he IDF and Israeli commando, if they fight someone, and lose it an be fatal

DaysedNConfused:
Generally, the whole idea of a "best martial art" is kind of silly. First, it is the practitioner that makes it good or not. In 25 years I have seen good and bad people in all martial arts. Second, the terms have such broad meaning. The terms "ninjitsu", "karate", etc have many different flavors.

Yeah, well martial arts being fun depends on the person. I dont mind the injuries, or that it is hard/ I love it.

Ms_Mafdet_The Great:
At their root, most martial arts (though not all) are derived from Jujutsu (The original Oriental version; not the Brazilian copy). This includes "M.M.A."

As to the most practical? It probably depends on the person's own ability to adapt 2 the martial art in question, and their individual style/rhythm

To a degree, mafdet is right. However there are some martial arts that I think for the most part are useless. Like tae kwon do. Which is pretty much only kicking.
