10 most practical martial art... (Page 13) I have seen tae kwon do tournaments and classes. It is utter crap to be honest. Good sport but on the whole not ar all an effective art. let me set the record straight..learning any one kind of martial arts or multiple martial arts is unnecessary...all you really need to learn is the judo chop...aint you ever seen austin powers? that fucking shit was beast...JUDO CHOP YOU! *WHACK* (Edited by D a r n e l l) take that which is useful, discard that which is not. Bruce Lee said it all. it can be different for everyone too hi,recently took up kickboxing and really enjoy it...but theres another class opened nearer me tht does lau gar / kickboxing.i dnt know much about lau gar was looking for some imformation on it if any 1 could tell me the difference between the 2 would be gr8full.thx My opinion is Best striking skills : Mai Thai, Kick Boxing;Boxing, Wing Chung Best Grappling Skills : Greco-Roman Wrestling, Freestyle Wrestling, Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (ground lord) If i would choose one i would pick Brazilian Jiu Jitsu cause the possibilities of a fight ending on the ground are large. I already train it by the way lol well aekido is good for most situations....and knowing some mai thia and boxing won`t hurt.. Mai Thai is for more situations than Aekido. And so Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I want to so what an Aekido guy can do on the ground...i am 80% he will do nothing. When it comes to demonstrations and movies Aekido looks cool but when talking about real life Combat or cage there are other martial arts which are more effective.. most fights are won well before the ground stage...and aekido is about putting an opponent to the ground..in a hard and painful manner..it is also more self defense than attack..as you well know... Yes it is defensive but i have never seen any aekido guy compete in combat sports. I have only seen demonstrations and i understand the physics to it. I like statistics and proof and the ones i have mentioned are the most affective cause they are mostly used in MMA(Mixed Martial Arts). As for the majority of fights 70% end on the ground. So i guess that speaks for its self. Aekido was mostly famous from movies. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu became Famous from real combat sports in cages where a 170 pound dude(Royce Gracie) submitted guys over 200 pounds. And it was no movie... (Post deleted by spaek ) im not going to criticise other styles as that would be disrespectful. I did Ukidokan Karate which is a freestyle karate devised by Benny "The Jet" Urquidez. Its a combination of many different styles and for me it was just what I wanted. | Sports Chat Room 1 Person Chatting Similar Conversations |
