First of all I need to say that the original was one of my favorite movies of the 80's, and it's very rare that a remake is better than the original. This one's no exception, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The story centers on a young man who happens to be living next door to a vampire in Las Vegas and his attempt to kill the vampire before all hell breaks loose. Colin Ferrel was fantastic as the vampire Jerry, the scene where he goes to borrow some beer stands out as some of the best banter I've seen in any movie this year. With some homages to the original this remake has a faster pace than the original but it keeps the comedy fresh and light. Go see it, be entertained then watch the original. A solid 7 out of 10 for me.
