Kaelis4u: IRON MAIDEN. I need not go any further. And for the guy wanting people check out Anvil. Hey dude, I seen Anvil live in the 80's. They were alright, but they were no Iron Maiden. Here is a quiz for all you metalheads. What was the first heavy metal song and what band did it. Only a true metalhead will know this.

sc666: to all the metal heads and alleged metal heads MASTER started it all. anyone who knows anything about REAL metal- not py@#@ ass slipnot,disturbed- david draiman is an egomaniacal dickhead, and all these other over-produced generic lame bands, knows paul speckmann is the godfather of death metal. he started metal in the us WAY before metallica, anthrax, and all other bands that copied or ripped him off- just ask members of napalm death, carcass, forbidden, death etc. also CHICAGO was the true birthplace of REAL METAL trouble, znowhite, terminal death, devastation, aftermath, sindrome were the true underground pioneers.all hail the great chicago bands of today: nachtmystium, the chasm, macabre, novembers doom, cardiac arrest. rock on sc666

TofuMacca: True.
I would have to say that even some bands from the 60's like Cream,Iron Butterfly even Jimi Hendrix were the beginning of Heavy Metal.Sabbath just went full out with it and made it y'know,a new era of music.

Hell, you can say that Iron Butterfly's In A Gadda Da Vida was the first heavy metal inspired sound. The riffs were dark and very erie moving . I would go as far as to say Helter Skelter by The Beatles made that final push for Heavy Metal.Ozzy was a big hardcore Beatles fan and was highly inspired by the group.I'm afraid to think what we'd be listening to today if it wasn't for The Beatles and Black Sabbath ahah.

sc666: never considered the helter skelter thing, but yeah i think youre right on that one. ozzy is much malilgned by critics and religious fanatics but is well respected by artists from every musical genre, and deservedly so. ask any metal guitarist who was a major influence, and they will probably say tony iommi. saw sabbath, original lineup, at ozzfest years ago-F@%$#@N AMAZING. they need to do it again. iam very impressed with your knowledge of music-ROCK ON TOFUMACCA!!!

TofuMacca: Ahaha,thanks !!!
And yes,i would have to agree with you on that one, dude.Theres nothing better then the original line-up of Black Sabbath.I only liked BS up until Ozzy left, was never into the Dio stuff at all.

You're lucky to have seen all of the members live I would've done anything to seen such a act!!

sc666: dio was, i guess, a suitable replacement for ozzy and heaven and hell was a decent enough album, but no, dio could never fill the void. dio on his own was alright, saw him when he recorded a live album, at jackhammer,(RIP) a club outside chicago. the ian gillian tenure surely wasnt anything to write home about either, would you agree?
