The arrangement and Layne made their songs powerful, Soundgarden is great too, but Alice in Chains has more replay value - they never get old (now listening to Junkhead) hehe Great board btw! korn_rocks_69420: yea junkhead is a good song the whole dirt album was amazing soundgardens superunknown album was amazing to i love the song 4th of july  MightySmoks: I'd have to say that Chris Cornell's vocal are great no matter what band he's with on a particular day, but Alice In Chains was a better blend than Soundgarden. korn_rocks_69420: yea i mean alice in chains is great i mean it really dont matter whos better its juss a topic i wanted to discuss but i believe the reason y i feel soundgarden is better than alice in chains is because of the impact of the grunge movement they both had an impact no doubt about it but soundgarden actually was one of the first grunge bands who actually developed the sound of wat was called grunge this really has nuttin to do with whos better but im saying that soundgarden and a few other like green river and all those seattle bands actually created a weird form of rock the tunings and signatures of soundgarden were unbelieveable it was like one big noice fest especially the old soundgarden korn_rocks_69420: as far as lyrically goes i would say alice in chains but as far as musically and vocally i would have to say soundgarden i juss wish we had alice in chains and soundgarden back again the 90's were awesome i actually think that soundgarden and alice in chains were the best out of nirvana and pearl jam i mean they were great to but i loved all the 90's rock today its juss a bunch of way overproduced music i mean some is good but to me it aint like the 90's  78elmo: mmmmm Tuffy question....... I'd go with Alice In Chains Again, they both have pretty orignal sounds, but Alice had a more original sound. Sound Garden sound like Audio Slave (For obvious reasons) but Alice In Chains sound like Alice In Chain. Also in my opinion, Layne Staley > Chris Cornell. I find that his death added to his voice, in no means am I saying it was good he died. Just it gives AiC a haunting aspect. I like both by quite a considerable amount. But Alice In Chains overall.
