Now seriously, I think this is like that thread about Rush vs Van Halen. They're different genres and can't really be compared. I would have to say that AC/DC and Def Leppard are equally as good in their type of music. I think they both can kick ass and rock a crowd equally as well it's just a matter of people's preferences to their types of music. I look at AC/DC as good old kickass hard rock and roll. They have a beat that you can't help but feel it pump through your veins when you listen to them: rock and roll in it's purest form. And Def Leppard has a rock sound but it's got that 80s hairband more melodic sound and they've got those power ballads and those awesome harmonies. I'm not qualified to say who has the more talented musicians in their band, but in my opinion, I think both bands have a lot of talented people in them....maybe not virtuosos but very talented. I think if I had to pick which one I like better it would be a tough choice but I would have to choose Def Leppard and I think that's only because I happened to grow up in the 80s and like the hairband kind of sound.  struanrobertson02: I made that joke so I'd have less effort and more fun, heheh. Yeah, alot of the older bands I've come to acknowledge were original and all different to each other, in terms of importance and how far apart musically each other are, it's a draw. But really, the Rush and Van Halen thread was quite different to this comparison. Yes, they were completly different to each other, point taken, but what makes them comparable is one had lots of soul, the other less, and a band with the most soul and melody is always best type, Van Halen were a great band, they held some of the most recognisable hits of the 80's and many say were a legendary presense on stage but Rush had more, something bigger, they had plain better rhythm sections, I find it hard understanding why anyone other than shredders would want to listen to a speedy guitar solo mid-way through a album, but I'll leave it at that, I don't like comparing bands, as you said, it is pretty pointless.  interpreter_n: I like both bands, everz band is unique and it is really hard to choose one from them.  mishamigo: i love them both. they both rock!  but i find that i like more def leppard songs. that doesn't mean i don't have any favourite ac/dc songs though. back in black and hell's bells are awesome some songs. as for def leppard, i love lady strange, love bites and others | Music Chat Room 34 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
