RandyRolfe: Well I'd have to say probably the obvious, Jimi Henrdix. But a couple others would have to be Alex Lifeson of Rush and Omar A. Rodriguez-Lopez of the Mars Volta, At the Drive-in and Defacto.

MoreThanYouCanHandle: The best guitar player would be Slash from Guns'n'Roses and Jimmy Hendrix. Anyone agree?

Dumbkopf
Dumbkopf: Yes indeed, many of the previously mentioned guitarists, are in fact, top notch ! As far as to say there is a "best", i firmly don't believe ANYONE can put a name to that (just my view). For example, to even THINK about comparing Slash to Jimmy Page would be an insult to Page ! They are from 2 totally different generations, and they play totally different styles. In the sake of broadening the horizons here, i will mention a few names that have not yet been mentioned...food for thought. Ritchie Blackmore, Vivian Campbell, Tony Iommi, Edward Van Halen, Ted Nugent, Jake E. Lee, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, David Gilmour, Angus Young, M*~z Mars, Yngwie Malmsteen, Ace Frehley, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, Brian McLeod (R.I.P.), Bob Dylan, George Harrison (R.I.P), Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing, and on and on it goes....lol...."hey hey my my, rock 'n' roll will NEVER die" !!!!
