best drummers commanchedogsoldier: SIMON PHILLIPS - SESSION DRUMMER THAT TOURED WITH Mwyw JAGGER ON HIS SOLO TOUR IN THE LATE EIGHTIES. THIS GUY IS GOOD. VIRGIL DONATI - HE IS A SESSION DRUMMER IN THE U.S CURRENTLY AND WAS ALSO DRUMMER FOR JAZZ-FUSION BAND "LOOSE CHANGE" AND ROCK BAND "SOUTHERN SONS". AWESOME IS THE WORD THAT COMES TO MIND WHEN I SEE THIS DUDE PLAY. VINNIE PAUL - PANTERA. SHEER BRUTALITY. Dae: Year, Keith Moon is good. I read how he got the place in the band and it's really cool. So, my list would probably be: Keith Moon - The Who Eric Carr - Kiss Herman Rarebell - Scorpions Rick Allen - Def Leppard John Bonham - Led Zeppelin Darrell Sweet - Nazareth Phil Collin - Genesis Some of this drummers also made wonderfull solo projects. commanchedogsoldier: KEITH MOON WAS AWESOME MAN BUT RICK ALLEN...? I MEAN THE DUDE DID OVERCOME ADVERSITY BUT AS FAR AS TALENT....WELL THAT'S DEBATABLE. Dae: I must disagree. Off course I can judge the whole thing only by articles and some stories my parents have told me. But as far as I understood, Rick Allen didn't just overcome the crises, but also was one of the developers of a new kind of drums set. But that is only my personal opinion. Nameless chick: dave lombardo....slayer chris adler....lam of god mike portney....Dream theatre lars ulrich.....metallica Paul Mazurkiewicz.........cannibal corpse yash phathak....exhumations jp....demonic resurrection/ pin drop violence many more Seage08: Rick Allen is a good drummer no denying the fact, he did overcome adversity, one which most musicians would'nt be able to overcome. He did help create not only a new & unique drum kit, but also a style very much his own. Neil Peart just truly awesome as a drummer & a musical driving force. Eric Carr, the best drummer Kiss ever had or will ever have. Just look at what happened to Kiss after they lost Eric. Although Gene & Paul are supposedly the driving force behind Kiss, you gotta admit that when they lost Eric, they also lost themselves. Cozy Powell & Tommy Aldridge, just look at the bands they've been in. The old guard of drummers. These used to be the people that bands would go to when they were in need of a drummer & a talent. Stemayer: Great grooves and performances: Steve Jordan (John Mayer trio), Bernie Dressel ( Brian Setzer orchestra). Check out! onami: Ginger Baker Steve Gadd Keith Moon ...( did you know that, he wanted to leave THE WHO so he and Jimmy Page went to see Robert Plant to form a new group. The led zeppelin was his idea.) onami: of course john bonham was the drummer of led zeppelin, but the idea of keith moon was to leave the who and get together with page and plant, before they even met bonham! RandyRolfe: Neil Peart is one of the most amazing drummers of all time. If you listen to drummers of bands today that play fast and hard each one of them will tell you that Neil was their ideal. Like Danny Carey of Tool. Also and amazing drummer. John Bonaham is another person ahead of his time. And a note for the post above mine. Plant and Bonaham were in the Band of Joy that's why he got the job. Keith Moon gave Page the name Led Zeppelin. In fact I don't think I have heard anything about Page and Moon trying to form a band. But I digress. Also Buddy Rich was excellent and Jon Theodore, Blake Flemming, and Thomas Pridgen all of whom played for The Mars Volta. guitarboy1987: mike portnoy drummer from dream theater is pretty sweet but my personal favourite is john bonham | Music Chat Room 15 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
