aid required in singing... well sort of Songbird_nz: Hey, I'm studying music majoring in singing and am second year degree this year. I just need a wee bit of help at the moment. For my end of year performance assessment I need to do an artist study which means I have to do three songs by the same artist. My original plan for this got shot down by my singing tutor which was originally going to be Natalie Maines the lead singer of The Dixie Chicks. My singing tutor claimed to be unconvinced, so, if anyone has any suggestions for female singers that will be so amazingly awesome! Thanks everyone! Kara_NZ26: Have you tried any kiwi artists? Betty-Anne Monga, Bic Runga, Brooke Fraser, etc? What kind of feel are you looking for? Just spitballing ideas classyromy: If you have the same sound and can sing in the keys of Natalie Maines, I'm surprised your tutor wouldn't have been more encouraging. What about the British singer "Adele"? She sings in about the same range and her songs are very expressive. If that's the type of impression you are wanting to make. "Rollin in the Deep" is a great and current song and she has a new release out as well. Please check her out and good luck!! Songbird_nz: Hey thanks you guys! That's real awesome of you to give feedback lol! Now to be perfectly honest I'm not too much a fan of kiwi music lol! And doing kiwi tuneage is considered too much of a safe choice! Lol! Weird aye? And as for Adele I do have her latest album and it is fab! I love it! But unforunately that is out of the question because another girl is doing Adele for her artist study! Gah! But thanks heaps for the suggestions! Xoxoxo Songbird_nz: Oh! And I'm looking for a country/pop/folk kinda buzz but if all else fails then I'll just do Amy Lee from Evanescence! Lol even though its way too easy for me! Lol Songbird_nz: Hmmmm lol I regret to inform you that Shania Twain isn't really my cup of tea... a bit too poppy for my liking... but thank you very much for your suggestion fahadhum: Your most welcome Try this link. It's very precise & ought to help you in your pursuit http://www.the-top-tens.com/lists/best-female-country-singers.asp Songbird_nz: Hey yea I know who she is... my singing tutor has an aversion to me singing old songs though... which is really annoying to me coz that's how I like my music... old lol! Although I do thank you for your suggestion I do really appreciate it fahadhum: @ Songbird_nz I am looking for any band by the way who r in need for a singer for any genre.Do u know anyone? Classic_Pandora: How about Sheryl Crow? Janis Joplin? Maybe Ann Wilson from Heart? Just some ideas here, because most of the bands I would cover would be male based bands. I'd probably actually study Geddy Lee from Rush since I'm a huge fan and also able to hit his ranges as a female. (Though I am absolutely SURE that I'd be shot down.) Classic_Pandora: Oh another artist I just thought about because I have been known to cover her is Alanis Morrissette. Has a rock feel to her, and you can't beat the angst she has in her Jagged Little Pill CD. Songbird_nz: Thank you! I love Heart! They have some incredible songs that I would love to cover some day but unfortunately my singing tutor won't let me do anything "old" lol which is unfortunate coz I love classic rock! But I have come to a conclusion I have gone with Amy Lee from Evanescence... my voice just sits so well in that register but thank you to everyone who suggested artists!
