Lil Wayne the best rapper in tha game today. (Page 3)
Soul-A-Lot/Rex0230: "Seriously, it doesn't matter if you made a hundred "real" songs, if you make just ONE song, for whatever dumb reason
(like "trying reach a different audiences" for more $$$), that betrays your character as a person, you are a sellout. Nothing more, nothing less. Why would you want your kids to listen to lyrics that degrade woman and then call him the greatest anything of our musical culture that took us over thirty years to built if NONSENSE."
i totaly agree with BigCitySlicker. i mean, some artist make much, much better music and they can't even get a deal cuz they wanna spread knowledge, not ignorance... did yall ever heard of IG OFF & Hazadous? every song i heard of them was a masterpiece... and they been doin' this much longer than lil' plain wayne (not my term. i saw it on youtube). it doesn't matter how many songz you make... it'z not about quantity, it'z about quality! you can make a thousand songz, but if you can't make a song that have jus a lil bit of conscious in it, u r not an mc... mc means knowledge, intelligence not shallowness and ignorance... my point is that hip-hop was made as a party music, but also as a way to educate ppl... rakim, a tribe called quest, public enemy, boogie down production... also lil wayne makes african-americans look bad... he and other pop rappers make african-americans look ignorant, and make ppl around world think that its truth... but it's not... as far as know american history, it was hard for africans to get respect. look at the 50's & 60's, martin luther king, malcolm x, black panthers, rosa parks... it's just sad, that hip-hop became a music, a culture that degrades africans, and women, of course... that's just my point of view... peace
TOY SOLDIER: OK OK OK OK LIL WAYNE GUD BUT HE AINT ALL THAT DAM. THERE ARE FAR MORE BETTER THAN THAT N~$#& WHO ADDICTED TO CAUGH SYRUP AND SPRITE. AND 59CENT THAT N~@xy A FRAUD. HE WHENT FROM BRO TO HO IN A HEART BEAT. AND LIL WAYNE HIS SONGS DON'T HIT ME. THEY ARE TO MUCH OF A BRAGGING AND ALL THAT. THEY DNT HIT IT OFF LIKE MOS DEFF AND COMMOM THEY BREAK IT DOWN ON THE REAL. BUT HEY IF YOU FEEL LIL WAYNE AND 50 CENT GO ON AHEAD.
BlackCaesar: Ok ok.. I'm leaning a bit towards BigCity and Soul-A-Lot, but not too far. The reason being, I think you went a lil' too far with the

I think that might be pushing it a bit. Calling him a sellout because he's "trying [to] reach a different audience..." for more $$$" seems to be quite an ignorant comment in my eyes. The reason being, I don't think there is any interview or proof of the man stating, "I needed to make more cash." if there is, that's my mistake and you can stop reading here if you want.
A LOT of emcees and rappers alike have switched up their styles for a short period of time if not completely. For instance, Common and Talib Kweli made "experimental" CDs and they were almost completely dismissed for it. Even KRS-ONE threw people a curveball when he did that spiritual CD; prior he's stated and/or implied that he believed religion is a way to control the masses. Another example is Cee-Lo Green and Andre 3000. Both have changed their sounds. Cee-Lo formed Gnarls Barkley with danger Mouse which is completely different than Goodie Mob and the Dungeon Family sound. Andre 3000 did the Love Below. Even Little Brother, one of the best groups by far dropped 9th wonder because they felt they were falling behind the times. Even Nas went through that phase where he was touching on everything. They wanted a new sound.
Just about every artist goes through a period when they try something new. I'm not saying they did it for money, maybe they did maybe they didn't. It might have even been in the back of their minds. However, what we all need to remember is that, as an ARTIST, you experience different things and you may want to express them in different fashions. That's one of the reasons MIA is no longer making music and is the most likely reason that DeTox has been on hold forever.
That's my opinion on the matter.
For the record, my favourite Weezy line is:
..and I'm a Martian so I need my space.
BigCitySlicker: Doesn't seem a little strange that the song "lolipop" sound a little bit like a couple of 50 cent's song? Another radio hit.
I'll take you to the candy shop
I'll let you lick the lollypop
Go 'head girl, don't you stop
Keep going 'til you hit the spot (woah)
I'll take you to the candy shop
Boy one taste of what I got
I'll have you spending all you got
Keep going 'til you hit the spot (woah)
And then theres lil' wayne:
Shawty wanna thug
Bottles in the club
Shawty wanna hump
You know I'd like to touch
Ya lovely lady lumps
She she lick me Like a lollipop(x4)
Of course, rappers are suppose to switch there style up. But HOW you switched it up tells the whole stories. It's pretty obvious to me that this song was for radio play because he knows that people would want to listen that mindless garbage. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a dance song, but putting THAT on the air is just plain wrong. Compare that talib's song "hot thing". He's not talking about oral swz so all of the little kiddies can go buy it. He was talking about a fine girl he meet that he's slowly falling in love with. But which one got the most radio play? Not even Lupe's superstar song stood a chance. Doesn't that tell you something? He didn't make it for the special little lady in his life. He didn't make it promote non-violence. I didn't make it to encourage kids to stay in school and don't do drugs. So unless the guy is completely nuts and spits out whatever he thinks without thought, what other logical reason could there be except for the CREAM?
Rydell85: Lil wayne would be the best if he didn't think he is on the same level as tupac was...that's crazy...wayne needs to stop with all the stupid mumblin mess and get back to rappin....the game is a better rapper than lil wayne
funnysmilez047: hey everyone whats up anyone wanna talk just add me haha... funny_smilez_047@h******.com

See, this one of the main reasons why Hip-Hop culture is going straight to hell. No one has their own opinion anymore. I don't force my family members and friends to listen to the music that I like. Why? Because everybody's got there own style of music that they love and enjoy. I gave my opinions on why lil' wayne isn't the best rapper alive because It's MY OPINION. It's funny how you say those that don't like lil wayne "needs to get new ears", because I feel the same way about those that listen to him. If you are not mature enough to accept that everybody in the hip-hop world doesn't think like you, you seriously need to consider going back to listening to nursery songs. I'm done wasting my time on lil' wayne. The Guy isn't the best rapper alive. Never has been, and never will be (Because like I said like a trillion times, THERE NEVER WILL BE ONE). And guess what? THAT'S MY OPINION. My main point is: Stop glorifying people for feats that they never accomplished. That was my two cent for this topic and I'm not spending a penny more. Love it or loath it.
P.S: Please top acting tough behind your keyboard. It doesn't intimate anyone. In fact, it makes me laugh
