Lil Wayne the best rapper in tha game today. (Page 2) pgrant97: yo lil wayne is da S**t i definatle agree dat if u dont u like lil wayne u jus dont no wut hihop hop is all about BigCitySlicker: i think your confusing pop artist(like lil' wayne) and the true artform hip-hop. i don't have any problem with pop music, i just don't listen to it. hip hop to me is about free expression, not about showing off or trying to be "the best". hip hop is art. you can't compare artist like ghostface killah to talib kweli simply because they have two diffrent styles. unless someone has mastered every type of style there can be (which is impossible) there will never be one who is the very best. haven't you heard the story of the gingerbread man? ~Abyss~: Big City Slicker, I agree with you 100% Plus more. Wayne is on my mp3 player right now and fw*z me in the ass if I dont admit I keep bumpin' Lolipop. But he's not the best and all you out there that keep calling him the best have killed Hip-hop. thagizback: not to piss people off but lil wayne aint shit T.I is not only tha king of the south he is tha kind of rap right now stella40: I DISAGREE AS WELL TO, FEW GOOD SONGS DOESNT ENTITLE YOU TO BEST RAPER ALIVE LMAO HE STILL WETT BEHIND THE EARS AND A LIL YOUNG BUC AT THAT TALK BOUT FOLK LIKE TUPAC AND YOULL BE ON THE RIGHT TRACK TO FINDING THE BEST RAPER EACH ONE CLAIMS TO BE DAPPER THAN THE NEXT LMAO STKizSIK: yo all my bros lil wayne is the s**t man if you dont think dat than u aint no hip hop fan yo BigCitySlicker: damn straight, abyss_x3. what kind of crap is that? "if you don't like lil wayne, you ain't a hip hop fan". first of lil' wayne is a POP artist, not a real mc. listen to that lolipop song (no pun intended). he doesn't even rap on that song. all he does is sing, pretty badly. personally, i don't have anything against lil' wayne, but come on people. get real. if lil wayne is the greastest rapper alive, then what we know as hip hop is dead. BlackCaesar: As far as I'm concerned, Lil' Wayne is in no way the best rapper alive. When it comes to flow, he's choppy but in a good way. He'll stop and hit a word and repeat it in the next line. His repetitions are good. [Leather so Soft] My rag always red like when them hoes bleed/ Now that's cold bleed. No, I mean cold-blooded He puts his heart on the track and comes with it hard most of time. He isn't always the most lyrical emcee, but he says something that has meaning it tends to get you. The fact that we was on almost everyone's record in '07 scared the sh*t out of me. He had me thinking "Who is this guy? Does he never sleep?!" I respect that, he aims to be the best at his craft without a doubt. However, I do not think he is the best rapper alive. In terms of flow, I'd probably have to give it up Andre 3000 or Biggie Smalls. In terms of lyrical content, I'd choose KRS-ONE or Lupe Fiasco. In terms of just "rawness" I'd have to go with the Clipse, DMX, Run DMC or Onyx. However, all of this is irrelevant. You can not necessarily be the best emcee when it comes to hip hop. I feel you can be the best best emcee of a certain style of hip hop. Whether it's southern, back-pack or even trap music. The only way I can see anyone being the best emcee of all hip hop, is them making a track for every style. Which I have yet to see. I believe you can only be the best in your field, not in something so general. To call someone the best emcee, is to call someone the best scientist, or the best artist. It doesn't work. For the record I don't think Lil' Wayne is the best southern emcee either. For that, I take Cee-Lo. Can't wait for the Goodie Mob and Dungeon Family reunions to pop off. PS. My OPINION for ONE of the best well-rounded rappers would have to be Andre 3000. ~ B'Ceez BigCitySlicker: i sort of agree with you B'ceez. like i said before i don't think they will ever be or there ever was a "greatest mc", but if i were to ever pick one it would be rakim. the guy is the definition of greatness. he and eric b. revolutionized the entire game. their early hip-hop music influence is still heard in music to day (even thought the artist that use it would put them to shame). and when rakim when solo, he released an album called "the 18th letter". if you are a novice hip-hop (and i bet at least 70% of you are), i strongly recommend you listen to this album. there was a time when i once listen to lil' wayne, 50 cent, and artist like them. but when rakim music touched my eardrums, it blew me away. i would never be the same person again. it was THAT powerful! as long as rakim is still breathing, lil' won't even be on the waiting list.
Soul-A-Lot/Rex0230: word... 18th letter is amazing! from hardcore "It's Been A Long Time" to smooth "love" joint "Show Me Love" album is classic. there isn't one track dat's boring... 5 mic classic indeed! and don't forget big daddy kane & kool g rap - three kingz of hip-hop... the originators! BlackCaesar: It's a shame Rakim and Dre couldn't get the callabo thing going. That album would have been a monster... deemack: i just read B'ceez mini anatomi of weezy and the sub catagories of hip hop and i agree 2, you could be the best in your particular style or catagory but there cant realy be a "best in the game" because all rappers kick thier rhymes in different dimensions, so you cant realy compare "rapper A" to "rapper B". if i had to pic a rapper who is PROBABLY the best (at the risk of being contradictory) i'd say nas, simply because in all his career he's kicked rhymes at different levels (i.e conscious rap, gangster rap, philosophy......) and is consistant in terms of content of lyrics, which is more you can say for most rappers of today or yesteryear... duster323: i agree wit some of yall that you cant have a person who is the best rapper alive period but for yall who dont even acknowledge lil wayne as a rapper or as a hip hop artist is sad. i bet everyone of those dudes yall named think lil wayne is the best rapper in the game today all those dudes had there time but they aint rappin no more or makin as big of an impact on the game as wayne is now be serious the dude is a beast u cant lie to say half the shit he spit is off of a freestyle i mean he a scary dude but he still a beast and u cant lie or deny that bigcityslicker u say lil wayne is a pop artist well how about u go listen to one of his mixtapes just because he did lollipop dont mean he aint a hip hop artist he just wanted to touch a diffrent audience thats all but if he aint a rapper go listen to mr.carter the song he did wit JAy Z go listen to somethin besides the shit u hear on the radio and tell me if he a rap artist because whether u like it or not he doin his thing and he bein reconignized worldwide for it and is bein called the best rapper in the game by all the rappers beilive it or not the dude doin him he aint the best ever but if u look at what all these other rappers doin and look at what he doin there isnt even a competition because he is doin way more so how about u look up his songs before u say he a pop artist cuz obviously u dont kno wat u sayin my ni**a BigCitySlicker: *sigh* I never said he wasn't a rapper. It's possible to be a rapper AND a pop artist, but trying to make the claim that you are the best rapper alive is a slap to the face of those that push hip-hop to what it is today. Lil' wayne has OKAY flow and his punch lines ARE'T BAD, but there are probably a hundred rappers that have skills just as good if not better. I could give a little kid's Christmas of how many rappers that are STILL active to this day (and if you didn't know, Rakim is one of them) that are better than lil' wayne, but the fact of the matter is that he is not the greatest ALIVE. It's fair to say that is the most popular or the "hottest", but saying that and saying he's the greatest alive just because as of now, all eyes seem to be on him in pop culture (yes,I said POP CULTURE). It doesn't matter if he puts out a sh*t load of mixtapes, or how many songs he makes that YOU think are "real", the guy just isn't the best alive (alive is the key word). There are artist who don't even have a record deal and are rapping out of their own pockets that more into their work than even lil wayne could ever even hope to muster, are lyrically superior and have better flow *cough* papoose *cough*. Seriously, it doesn't matter if you made a hundred "real" songs, if you make just ONE song, for whatever dumb reason (like "trying reach a different audiences" for more $$$), that betrays your character as a person, you are a sellout. Nothing more, nothing less. Why would you want your kids to listen to lyrics that degrade woman and then call him the greatest anything of our musical culture that took us over thirty years to built if NONSENSE. So to sum it all up, You lil wayne fanboys and fangirls, that don't know sh*t from the stains in your draws make me sick and are doing nothing but destroying hip-hop. If YOU wanna call him the greatest be my guest, but real hip-hop fans will always know the truth. p.s: sorry for the bad tone and languge, but you, duster323, had it coming. Cats who claimin' they hard be mad f@x so I run through em like, flood water through sandbags Competition is mad, what I got, they can't have Sinkin they ship, like Moby Dick, did Ahab Son I'm way past the minimum, it's a verb millenium My rap's hold a gat to your back, like Palestinians -Mos def: redefinition(BlackStar album) | Music Chat Room 25 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
