dvustimmer: I know everyone mentioned so far is really really good. I have to add Roger Taylor to that just to round that list out. All these guys are grade A league master precussionist. I have a soft spot for Bun E Carlos. If I had to choose if I got to form my dream band, that would be my go to guy. I'm not a drummer, but if I'm in a band, his is the style I would most groove on.

dvustimmer: I'm learning to appreciate how little I know about Bass. I 've been more the utility guy in the bands I've been in. My home intrument is piano, I also double as a 2nd guitarist, can give the lead vocalist a spell here and there, but more often then not I do harmonies. I have played bass in a few projects, I think most guitarist like me can regurgitate and get by on bass, but I know I don't set the world on fire at that position. I kinda come at your thread like if my unit is in one of those good nights where we actually have a good vibe going on, whose the guy you'd like to see behind the drumset when you want to extend some things on the fly and wing it for a while. You had two of the three guys that immediately came to mind covered, Bonham and Lee. Talyor came to mind also.

dvustimmer: I have not really done anything very serious since 92'. I stay active in music, but it's at the local bar scene level, nothing very serious as trying to promote a push and get over to the next level. There waa a day way back when I was doing 8 to 10 dates a month with a band. Chicago to Des Moines circuit. But we based out of all place Milwaukee, so that became an absolute grind. I don't know, we may have been day away from being found and put in the gears of some promotional machine, or maybe a scout did see us and thought we sucked. I kinda think the former because we played enough we should have been lucky atleast once to be in that situation. But in any case, I just think, atleast I gave it a good try for 2 years and I don't have that regret. I do want to get some stuff on soundclick but I think it's more to stroke my ego and get some feedback more than the promote side.

Alexisonfire1: Thats awesome Timmer, I have only jammed with older guys who play more of the classic rock, which I do love, but I have a love for the double bass pedal and music with more aggression, so I am back practicing and fine tuning my playing, I would be happy with getting into or putting together a band at the local bar scene level before I kick the bucket lol.

dvustimmer: The bar scene is good if in moderation. Maybe it's because I did burn out years ago, but I like the feeling of nervous anxiety with 5 minutes to go before we start the night. If you do it to much, even worse with the same lineup, it becomes just another day at the office and you dread the 4 to 5 hour grind.

I'm not a huge fan of what I call speed metal (I'm not sure that's the right term for it) but I get a good dose of it because my kids are old enough they are past the Johna Brothers and looking for something that is cutting edge. I gotta say, hearing all that I think every speed band is comprised of one techincal genius on precussions, and the rest of the group is just filler. I think that has to be a requistite for that genre of music. You have ot have a killer drummer. Very much like we knew as a hair band way back when we needed the high vocalist and the guy who would only bother being good on guitar for 15 to 30 seconds a tune. The rest of us were the accompaniment.

I've played with some really good guys on drums, and they could not do speed metal for 4 hours straight. I don't think they could get through one song. I think if you get into the bar scene, atleast in Wisconsin from my experience, there is the best audience for supporting that genre. That's where it appear the best support has gone. Even country and straight blues at the local level has really dropped off in support.
