favorite DEATH METAL BANDS dissolveanddecay: I gotta agree with Opeth dude  I'm gonna chuck in Nile, Abigail Williams and Cradle Of Filth. AcidicAlex: I have to admit that i'm not that much into death metal, but i have a great respect for all Swedish bands... Unlike american death metal bands, swedish's melodic line is more "cleaner" if you can say that. They even had a "death metal school(yes, you heard it well) in Gottenburg. In Flames, Dark Tranquility , At The Gates are some bands worthy to listen to, even if you're not into this genre of metal AcidicAlex: and one more thing... dissolveanddecay, i didn't knew that Cradle of filth is a death metal band... well, some said that it's actually a black metal band but they are also wrong  Gothica82: CoF is usually referred to as an extreme metal band. The label "extreme metal" is more often than not used in association with genres such as black, death and doom metal... 01_IrishDude: I wouldn't class it as death metal but my favorite Gothenburg Melodic Death Metal band is Arch Enemy (old arch enemy... before Angela joined)

IMHO they need to find their own sound because currently its a major mix between AE & Nightwish Not bad though \m/_c0ry_j4m3z_\m/: I am more of a fan of this genre than black metal. I am into Obituary, Death, Cryptopsy, Dark Funeral, Job For A Cowboy, Whitechapel, Pestilence, Broken Hope, Opeth (though they are just something of their own), Brutal Truth, Entombed, Suffocation and Vader. I could go on and on but I will just list those as some of my favs.  DEEP_acheleg: im auditioning on guitar for a black metal band. they have a death metal growler, so i want to go with that influence. i started practicing, and came up with this.  Fog Swept Glade: Nile did a good song. Blasphemy are amazing. I really dislike Abigail and blasphamagroper or whatever that is, so, that much denser fibrous kind of sound is good ie Mr. Forster‘s projects and Diocletian, Black Witchery. Blasphemy is a nice blend. Death Metal really does take some classic lead, or originality, or a meld with Thrash & or Black Metal to make me listen. Mutt Metal usually.

There are a ton of bands that sound like Morbid Angel. I just herd Belial‘s Gods of the Pit II again. I like that recording.
