Best War Movies ever (Page 6) skyguycess172: i also think oliver stone is a great director, but i also think the american soldier was unfairly depicted as a bunch of murdering rapist, village burning, monsters that wasnt, the mission, although there was lots of cruelty and unspeakable acts it wasnt as frequent as in the movie, a excellent movie that was realisticly frightening was also the killing feilds just sayin. admireme63: My favorite war movie isn't actually about WAR. It's more about the recruiter. It's called TRIBES and it has Jan Michael Vincent in it. Article 99 was pretty good too. ThirstyWater: Not quite what everyone is talking about but I love the documentary "Fog of War." Quite spellbinding. Also, I love Black Hawk Down. pilgrim12: For me it's enemy at the gates, true story of stalingrad and those who fought to stop the germans taking it,sniper Vasily Zaytsev 225 confirmed kills think it was jude law in it . KYRIEELEISON2: Well, for me, I still love the old classics that I have. The Dambusters, The Blue Max, Mrs. Miniver, Cross of Iron, Paths of Glory, All Quiet on the Western Front., Sink The Bismarck, Battle of Britain, Twelve O'Clock High, Sands of Iwo Jima. But of the newer movies I like Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, Enemy at the Gates, Das' Boot, Windtalkers, Flags of our Fathers. xubix: i agree with kyr but also dads army, the longest day, anzio, and gettysburg, war of the worlds , lifeline, and evena parody calles allo allo tbogalarzo: I have to vote for Pearl Harbor. The special effects during the scene when Japan attacked, were awesome. Alex1963: Paths of Glory made about 30 years earlier by the same director that did Full Metal Jacket is worth seeing. Its essentially about a trial - a court martial of a handful of soldiers picked to make an example of for not being able to capture a position held by the enemy. Set in WW1 and shot in B/W but the scene leading to the battle with the Colonel walking through the trenches has stunning camerawork. (see 5 min scene). (Edited by Alex1963) punkyliza: the longest day 1962... been made to sit true it at my uncles house so many times but i ahve to admit it one of the best ones adn ofcourse Das boot. chronology: 'Cross of Iron' by Sam Pekimparh. It was the most realistic war movie ever. A movie classic. | Movies Chat Room Similar Conversations |
