Forgiveness is proven to be the best method of coping for victims. Most forgive themselves first and then the abuser as part of the healing process. What I am asking people to do is put themselves in the shoes of the victim. How can a victim forgive and heal when everyone around them is telling them to hate.(revicitimisation) Also put yourself in the shoes of the abuser, why did he/she do it, what drives that impulse. If pedophillia is a mental illness and not fully under the control of the abuser, how responsible are they and should they executed. I am against execution for all crimes. My aim here is not to focus on the populations knee jerk reaction to pedophilia but on the individual victim. Hatred has never done anything good and the prisons are full, a testament to punishment being a failed system. And for what its worth I am specificly focusing on the justice system I am focusing on public opinion and how it effects the victims of sexual abuse. I think the issues are so complex here that a simple execution will solve nothing, especially where the victim is concerned.  Anny4ever: well...cuz pedophiles dont hurt. i mean when some one likes children, we can call he/she pedophile, but once he/she have had any sexual contact with the kid, then we call them "child molester", or rapist, or s*ck bast**d, then we can kill he/she... when a some1 rapes, he/she can go to therapy, n stop of doing that. But sometimes we cant help, cuz they love feeling the pain in the victim so they cant be helped. In that case death, is the best to protect our kids. n of course we have to help the victim with therapy. circusgirl: ok people, try this, would you want your child or family member in the room with one of these things?? and yes, i mean things. they can't be human, the minute they ruined the life of n innocent they lost the humanity in them. Even if the thing promised that it was all better?? I wouldn't let one of my kids within 100 miles of one of them. And as for to the fact that children of abuse tend to become abusers, would that really happen, do you think, if it was made clear to everyone that if you touch a child, you are going to die? Do you really think that children would keep that all bottled up in them if they knew the bad person was wrong and (hopefully it is..) mommy and daddy would kill them if they knew? I don't think so. I would have told my dad first thing if i thought that i wasn't the one to blame. But this is just my 2cents. dellprinter: I agree with you circus girl on the point about keeping children away from paedophiles. After all that makes sense. I also think if a child has to be with a paedophile, the child should be there with an adult. Situations like this arise in families all the time. I don’t agree with you that a paedophile has lost their humanity when they hurt a child. I think in many ways they have lost more than there humanity but in a way it is all too human to have a weakness that you cannot control. However, I think that the death penalty is a cop out, it does not ask the questions of why?, it does not protect the victim, and if anything it lowers everyone’s humanity. I don't think so” is long and complex but here are at least some issues: any child who believes their parents have the right to kill anyone is in jeopardy of using that belief without control or thought for its consequence. What if the paedophile is in fact mother or father? If for example a child believes his/her father will face a death penalty for divulging this secret, the child is re-victimised if their father is executed. One they will blame themselves for the execution and two they will live without a father. The potential for misuse, error and guilt are very high if execution becomes the primary solution to this problem. Thanks for your comment.
