what is geocaching? and what to look for....

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.

A nice, simple park n' grab that's winter friendly. Bring your own writing stick.

Congrats to rottnpagan and lobstersam on the co-FTF

The cache is located on the site of the old Halifax Infirmary. Constructed in 1933, the infimary operated on this site until 1998. It lay dormant for 5 years until the province began calling for expressions of interest in developing the site. After issues with vandalism, squatters and a fire, the province decided to tear down the facility and in 2005 demolition of the buildings began.

Around the same time, consultation began on what should be done with the land the former hospital rested on and several adjacent parcels of land. By the time demolition was complete, three proposals had been brought forth to solicit public opinion on and by the end of 2006 a final report had been prepared.

So what has happened since the report was filed 4 years ago. The last remaining building from the Infirmary, Gerard Hall, is now a Dalhousie University residence and the remainder of the land is a giant parking lot. So I guess the cache location should be safe for at least a little while but at the rate things are going I guess I don't think I'll be around to see what goes here.

This one is winter friendly and please bring your own writing stick.
