 |             StuckInTheSixties: Correction: The foot trail that can be seen off in the distance is not the Coastal Trail, but rather, the continuation of the Matt Davis Trail. I looked closer at this picture, and noticed the very faint, indistinct line of another trail which you're not going to be able to see here unless you zoom quite a ways into the picture, which is what I had to do in order to verify this. |

Turning further to the right, the picture reveals more of the dramatic landscape of this area, the rounded ridges divided by steep gullies where water runs during the rainy season. The hillsides are a mosaic, a patchwork of various elements, open meadows, rolling hillsides, thick forest, and rocky outcroppings. The foot trail that can be seen is the Coastal Trail, which branches off of the Matt Davis Trail, maintaining a consistent elevation while the Matt Davis continues to meander downward toward the coast.
