Looking northward, the dramatic topographical structure of this part of Mt. Tamalpais is becoming more evident. If you look closely, you can see the faint lines of deer trails, which run somewhat vertically up the sides of Bolinas Ridge. Also note that up near the upper reaches of the ridge, the grasses are beginning to show signs of drying out into the tan and brown colors of summer, when all of the grassy parts of this entire area will lose the lush green color of spring. The upper reaches dry out a bit first as gravity pulls the moisture within the soil downward.
