Nineteenth stop of the day (#1 of six shots at this stop) :

My last stop was at an old, aging vineyard, one of the rare vineyards where vines aren’t set into the rigid rows, held in place with metal wires, etc. that I’ve shown in all of the previous pictures. (During the Eighties, Napa Valley was beset upon by a nasty parasitic insect called Phylloxera, nearly microscopic fly whose larvae would feed on grapevine roots. This infestation resulted in the eventual replanting of most of the vineyards in Napa Valley, using vines grafted with Phylloxera-resistant rootstock. A few old vineyards remain, however.)
