Anderson Cooper, Rev. Terry Jones and General Betrayus...

all came up tonight between 8pm and 8:10pm. I got so sick of the lack of recent history omitted by both persons I had to shut off the bube tube and dig this up from: http://www.msnbc.m**.com/id/7857407/site/newsweek/print/1/displaymode/1098/

To wit:

By Evan Thomas
Newsweek
Share Print Font: +-May 23 issue — By the end of the week, the rioting had spread from Afghanistan throughout much of the Muslim world, from Gaza to Indonesia. Mobs shouting "Protect our Holy Book!" burned down government buildings and ransacked the offices of relief organizations in several Afghan provinces. The violence cost at least 15 lives, injured scores of people and sent a shudder through Washington, where officials worried about the stability of moderate regimes in the region.

The spark was apparently lit at a press conference held on Friday, May 6, by Imran Khan, a Pakistani cricket legend and strident critic of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. Brandishing a copy of that week's NEWSWEEK (dated May 9), Khan read a report that U.S. interrogators at Guantánamo prison had placed the Qur'an on toilet seats and even flushed one. "This is what the U.S. is doing," exclaimed Khan, "desecrating the Qur'an." His remarks, as well as the outraged comments of Muslim clerics and Pakistani government officials, were picked up on local radio and played throughout neighboring Afghanistan. Radical Islamic foes of the U.S.-friendly regime of Hamid Karzai quickly exploited local discontent with a poor economy and the continued presence of U.S. forces, and riots began breaking out last week.

etc. etc.

=====

The only thing General Betrayus should be saying is US Military Personnel torturing Prisoners of War by flushing the Qur'an down Cuban Toilettes violates the Geneva Convention and "buts US troops in harms way" by making all of them look like war criminals. It is not General Betrayus's job at this late stage in the game to make religious comments about a backwoods chruch in Florida with 2 dozen members in his search for 15 minutes of fame.

The military is NOT a political organization. It is EXPRESSEDLY forbidden in ALL constitutions around the world.

All you can ask the Prisoners of War in Gitmo is "NAME, RANK and SERIAL NUMBER".

You can't torture them.

You can't flush their holy book that they hold dear to their soul down the crapper.

You can't strip them naked in Abu Grabi prison (or wherever) and take pictures of them. It's against ALL international laws to take pictures of people naked.

richard_d_lee: Yes I know Pakistani cricket players work for the illegal gambling and gaming industry as do the secret police that blackmailed this pakistani cricket player into leading the revolt.
