People tell me I'm pretty swank. I'm always on the go and can't tolerate having nothing to do. I'm a child behavioralist, working with children with disabilities; mostly autism and MR. Most tell me I'm one of the easiest people to get along with; lover, not fighter. I read a lot and still break out a super nintendo. I'm a pretty big nerd at heart and strive for the best life possible. [:

project-starla. to Kaiya_: Yeah, girls have a lot broader social spectrum. That's why you can almost immediately tell with a male if they have autism or not. With a girl, they have to be tested & often are underdiagnosed due to lack of autistic symptoms. Which, in my opinion, doesn't always mean anything. The autistic females I've worked with are actually social & very talkative once you get to know them. They just have different traits of autism.

Our generations these days are getting dumber because they don't know how to put down a video game controller or a remote control & pick up a book. XD Not to mention all of the prescription drugs, the diets, etc. Unless you were raised to study & apply yourself in this day & age, you're probably going to be glued to a video game or doing some drugs. Lol.

Kaiya_: Thats very true about girls being more social. i had not thought of that. our brains are wired differently! i have a nephue thats got autism and ive been working on my nursing certification so thats kind of why im interested plus im addicted to research haha not to many ppl here to have intelligent convo with.

i think in todays world too were living with to many toxic compounds in our artificial environments. i was reading how in many instances people are getting dumber but maybe a lot of that could be from distractions like TV then of course poor diets etc.

project-starla. to Kaiya_: Girls also have a higher development of certain parts of the brain such as social awareness that allow them to hide autistic traits more. I think there are more girls with autism than are actually diagnosed. They just show symptoms a lot more differently. They have the ability to be more social.

As far as the Amish go, thimerosal has been discredited in many studies. (Your question actually made me question my boss on the subject as well. Hahah.) Not to say it may contribute, but from what I researched I don't think it's a factor of that. I do think it is a combination of vaccinations & other medications that cause it, though. I found some studies that showed Amish children(very, very few) that had autism who had, even though against Amish religion, had gotten vaccinations very small.

Kaiya_: my theory is that its thymerisol, gmo, bpa plastics, floride, msg, and aspartame but mostly the thymerisol. studies in third world countries showed marked increase in autism and auto immune dissorders such as Gillian Beret Syndrome with the introduction of these vaccines. mostly in males which could be accounted for considering the thicker blood brain barrier of females.

just my opinion though lol but for real im a college kid trying to figure it out.

project-starla. to Kaiya_: I'm not educated on the Amish too much, but I do know that they have a more organic and reserved lifestyle. Diets during pregnancy can contribute to autism, especially foods high in mercury. The Amish also don't use medicines as we do & their bodies are way more 'cleansed'. There's also theories that their children don't get autism because they don't get vaccinations & treatments like the rest of us do. Some people say that's just false. The rest of us are just more modernized & have more foods & medicines that go through our systems. XD
