Perfection simply means without flaw. Imagination isn't required for that which is perfect because it stands without needing anything else to complete it. I think the agonizing over perfection comes from the fact that it thwarts our continued efforts of repeatedly pushing human imagination as the greatest thing at the efficiency of design.
