Nurse_Nikki: Listen, there's an a$$load of jobs out there; you just have to have the want and will to do them. The jobs here aren't that great but, they pay the bills and granted there's usually no health insurance and retirement package... but u just work them until something better comes along!! Keep your head up!

You can't find a job because you don't have a degree. You can't get a degree because you don't have any money. You don't have any money because you can't find a job. You can't find a job...well, you get the point. It's a vicious circle.

Canuck51_1: You don't need a degree to flip burgers or work retail. They may not be the most glamorous or well-paying jobs, but they're just two of many places to start. Save your money, finish high school, apply for a student loan if necessary for trade school or college, and get the education and skills you need for the job you want.
Is it going to be easy ? No, of course not, but anything's better than just throwing your hands up in the air and complaining that no one will hire you because you don't have a degree.

duncan123: there s too many scammers for any one to have much confidence in trade and business.
if you are doing well people will a have go at you because they are too deformed or insane to get along themselfs.

theres alot of bad people in work at petty jobs; haveing been given those jobs because they are so negative. scammers who think good people are holding then back help each other.

so either you are a freak or you are a victim of the freaks
there is plenty of things that need doing is n,t there?

Getting a job is easy. Just go to a job centre, find the jobs you want to apply, call the employers and apply for those jobs.

Oh ya and DON'T go out the job centre without an employer or agency asking you to come for a job interview or work! success!

phyisical_lor: If you are young, have no experiance but know WHAT you really want to do in life, two avenues for a job.

Goto school - yes, employers do not want to hire because if you cannot do the job, then no point in hiring. You are a investment! for what ever dollar value he puts into you, he expects a greater return. For example, as a mechanic. Say the job takes 1 hour to change a set of brakes. If you took .8 hours, then jumped onto the next car, you are making him money.

Apprenticeship - easy way to get with low wage to start as in a career. Look at the economy in your region. Is it in really bad shape? Unemployment that is 10% is horrible and will making getting a job very competitive. Think about moving or join the military.

Volunteer - Set your pride aside, except the crap because it only gets better. This is one of the easiest ways to get a job that does not require a degree and which you can learn on the job. Your sense of self worth will lift your spirits and moral up.

If you are young, I was just like you. When I left the military in my mid 20s, I had to goto school. I did and also, delivered pizzas. Can you believe that?

MrSteveA67: I'd enjoy being able to blame some of the presently poor economic state on many poor government policies, but the truth is that as long as people allow themselves to be led around by the nose by whomever the latest dictator du jour is, then who's really to blame?

It might be easy to say Bush was at fault for the War in Iraq, but as far as I know he didn't fire a shot and it might be easy to blame Obama for the attempted National Healthcare policies, but it took more than him to do that.

... the economic problems appear to fundamentally stem from poor cultural and social views and people both letting themselves be abused as well as similarly tolerating abuses of others and it ultimately pulls everyone down (there really aren't any winners in that 'game'.

the real slim DEEPy
the real slim DEEPy: Unemployment and public assistance are 2 black holes. It has been proven that the longer you have been out of work, the less likely it is that you will EVER work again. If you have been without work for 1.5 years, you should take the first fast food, janitorial or delivery job you can get, as you should have done in the first place. In your spare time, you should do volunteer work in a career-oriented field to keep your resume fresh.

When an employer sees an applicant who is presently unemployed, they read "lazy" and "loafer" between the lines. Taking unemployment or public assistance is the first mistake. Anyone who finds themselves without work should lower their standards and take a menial job, while supplementing their work experience with relevant volunteer work. If you refuse to work at a position beneath you, a prospective employer may see you as having too much pride to be a subordinate. If you take unemployment, a prospective employer will worry that you might manage to take advantage of his unemployment insurance in the future, which costs that business money!!! someone who is on unemployment or workers compensation appears to be a LIABILITY, and one who takes public assistance appears as a loafer, living off the tax dollars of those wealthy enough to employ you.

MrSteveA67
MrSteveA67: There are job sites like monster.com where you can put your resume, but one way that worked for me was to google keywords for the type of job I was searching for and then many companies with an on-line website have a job opportunities section you can send an e-mail to.

For example, if you were looking for a position in accounting and lived in Maine, googling something like this would work as a search key to find companies that might be hiring:

search key: "Job opportunities" accounting Maine

(That one said there were over 4 million hits and everything on the first page looked like it was about accounting work in Maine)

I did that once and sent out maybe 400 e-mails over a period of a couple months and got about 7 interviews lined up. (I ended up getting hired on the first interview, which was nice because it was the job I wanted most out of those 7).

Good luck
