Is Your Job Making You Miserable? (Page 2)

Erika33
Erika33: I used to love my job. The whole reason I got into it was so that I could help other people, but for the past year it has really been stressing me out. Maybe time to update my resume.

AngelOfMusic: I hate my job with a passion, The money is great, but I'm surrounded by grumpy old men and inept younger people. Why can't I find a job working with kind, pretty women that could put my brain to good use? Well I know why.....but...

Bytr: I have experienced workplace bullying. It was pretty strange sufficive to say that when I was hired I was told there was a seven point system but a week later my badge was confiscated and my parking sticker was removed over a single 'misunderstanding' that occurred when a group of three latinos overheard a word slipped out of my mouth when I almost skewered my eye one a coat hook walking out of the bathroom.

Basically I was seated working with a group of people on my first day and was just trying to pick up the pace get my bearing and help ease people into introducing themselves to me by being a good listener and the young man across the table started in on me when someone else approached by turning to the guy next to him and telling him that I wouldn't talk to him because i thought he was a N word and i didn't talk to N because that is all he was, just a N and she doesn't talk to Ns. He said this several times very angrily so everyone could hear and after getting over the initial shock I denied it but I was really very repulsed by him after that and spent the better part of two hours checking my actions before i just walked up to a supervisor and reported it to nip it in the bud in case I ever needed to take legal action.

I also noticed a hostile environment in the breakroom which made the half hour lunch unbearable which is why I chose to spend my breaks in the bathroom for a couple nights anyway (oh now I am putting this together....).

On my last two nights we spent most of the time opening up boxes which were incorrectly packaged. Instead of a night and day formula duo there were two of each or the tubes were just empty, or the there was just one tube and not two or whatever. 9 out of 10 packges were just junk.

To this day I still do not understand what was going on in that place or how it got like that and why they let it continue.

AngelOfMusic: Bandit40, a lot of times new hires have to deal with existing clicky groups, and usually the more difficult/low waged the job is, the worst attitudes you can expect to deal with.

Bytr: Well I'm surprised by non-existent response on this Topic. i take it to mean that workplace agitation is at a low these days?

Besides I thought my horror story would help other people see the lighter side of what they are experiencing.

Hyenablood: I use to work as a housekeeper at a casino in my city, the entire place was a toxic work place. I went the the union twice against my supervisor and shortly after that I quit. Then after a few months I went and worked at a casino outside the city, a smaller building. The supervisor kept yipping at me to 'hurry up' and they gossiped about eachother in such a small work place. I only lasted about a month or so before I was let go.
Now it's been several years since I held down a job, and now I'm looking to get into a diffrent area of work, being a security guard. Hopefully this time around it will be more plesant, although I am aware of human personality, I'm no fool. I'm more seasoned in term of toxic personalitites and harrashment. I hope I can make this last.
