Technology of the Future

XFixYourBrainX
XFixYourBrainX: Talk about what technology you think will be in the future. Why you think it will be in the future? What the specific technology will be used for? How it will benefit humanity? Explain these questions in detail. What year between a 1-20 year range will it be available for the common consumer?

Zanjan: The Internet is incredibly gullible - many sites say you must be over 18 to access them. When you say "Yes", they just take your word for it and patch you through.

I predict Internet security will increase its cave-dwelling intelligence, starting with verifying personal credentials. Linked to a world-wide data base, surface anonymity will disappear. This is a sad thing for convicted criminals, who will also be microchipped (with tamper alarm) and not get permission to post or go anywhere on earth they've not been permitted by authorities to go.

Energy production advances; based on fibre-optics technology, wind turbines begin to be replaced with environmentally-friendly giant wands.

A new mouse trap will be invented and commercially produced in the next 12 months.

ghostgeek: That's a distinctly Orwellian view you're advancing there Zanjan. Trouble is, it seems to be coming to pass. As for the mouse trap, I'm developing one that will tickle the little brutes to death. At least they'll die laughing.

Zanjan: Well, you know that humans haven't exactly proved themselves to be overwhelmingly responsible to date. These are times when one can do a lot more damage than was possible in the past.

Technology is wonderful but sometimes it can cause new problems - the more complicated it gets, the more there is to break down and need fixing. As it is, everything seems to need electricity to work - people have forgotten how to live without it.

ghostgeek: I can't think of one technology that hasn't got its problems. There's no end of ways in which our creations can harm us. Trouble is, nature can do the same without our help. Which is why we muddle on through, trying to make the best of things. Something's going to kick us up the butt, so we might as well take the good that both nature and technology have to offer.

No electricity, no Wireclub.

gretle56: ok, future technology... how bout a power cell with slimy gristly insides where little tiny seed like packets of a radioactive material (like) uranium are implanted into it. The radio active material can be stored there for long periods of time without using up its power. The slimy substance can be slowly dissolved to produce a long slow power source lasting very long time.

Zanjan: Another use for Dilithium crystals? I hear there's a new fusion engine built using those - it will take 6 weeks to get to Mars instead of 6 months. Funny how sc-i fi writers are the inspiration for technology to follow. Eventually, Man will travel to other star systems but not by using fuel engines.

Zanjan: Because mice are smart - if they escape the first time, they learn. I'm down to one barn cat right now so we had mice in the house this winter. We baited with tried and true mouse favourite - peanut butter. We got 15 of them but one mouse figured out how to consistently spring the trap and steal the food, even when we stuck a kernel of corn in the middle of the peanut butter.

So, it was war - husband would not be outwitted by a mouse. It's a matter of pride. Personally, I figured this mouse deserved to live.God must have read my mind. Hubby never did catch him.

Wonderbunny: How would the corn kernel be better than peanut butter? I can see why you're keen on mousetrap inventions if you're plagued by mice. My ex invented a humane mouse trap consisting of an upturned plastic box precariously balanced on a ruler with the nuts underneath. When the mouse is caught you drive it far away and release it in the wild.

Zanjan: Mice cant take peanut butter back to their lair for storage - that's why they like the kernel corn too. Wonder, I live in the wild - those critters come back!

I like mice - they're cute. I don't mind them in the yard because they're food to so many animals and birds - I just don't like them in my house because they chew through things and aren't potty trained.

gretle56: I do agree man needs to expand his horizons when it comes to efficient living but, man does not need to loose his background, his heart, his past, in order to do this. Becoming a cold can of sardines may be the answer to efficient living, but it does nothing for the heart of humanity. Humanity should NOT forget it's past and where it came from. Or you will find history repeating itself in dissatisfying ways. His free will business leaving the past behind is not good. It is dangerous.

Wonderbunny: I watched a couple of youtube videos made by the venus project and was totally inspired by them. Especially the bit about abolishing money. I've tried in my small way to spread the message. It's amazing what a cold reception I'm getting. People just love being exploited by capitalists. It's like the lottery it seems - worth it for the small chance that they'll become one of the wealthy elite one day.
