xapim: no, i herd theres ideas of telephonic romote control cars, forget taxi's just dial up your car ??? i think there trying to tie in with computerized maps cars have today ? i mean dag nabit, there's probly clones of you , you can just send to work on the way. in the year 3,000

hellbhoy: Bmelion technology is limitless if the circumstances are right.Today's silicon processors were a product of an experiment and it was a mistake that they found out that if you laser a piece of silicon it only conducts electricity one way hence the silicon switch was born. They are seeking ways to superconductivity and when that happens even the cheapest PC with superconductivity will ANNIHILATE today's biggest and fastest PC's with processing power. Also means your battery life will last months even encoding full HD rendering, watching it,playing a game at full GFX HD capability on another monitor.I can't wait ha ha.
One other is cheap sustainable energy that is environmentally friendly at a fraction of today's costs.

The mind boggles at such things to come.

oldskoolPunk: Sadly, superconductivity requires a temperature of absolute zero (-460F). This will work great in space where there is an absence of moisture, but would be impossible down here swimming in this thick-ass atmosphere. Actually the future of pc power as we recognize it today is lies in quantum computing. Each bit containing not just the value of zero or one, but a waveform containing any value between zero and one. Only once the data is read and presented "on-screen", the waveform is broken down to an actual number.

hellbhoy: OLDSKOOL a wave form is another latent time barrier ! it takes time to decode and encode and is old school pardon the pun there.
Lightspeed like fibre optics are the way of the future, don't know if you have heard of anamorphic substances that light can affect ? they are working on crystal technology at the moment to bypass achieving superconductive electrical processors. So imagine a PC that has a processor that at it's core that uses light switches to compute at light speed if the anamorphic substrate switches are instantaneous. Not only faster but uses very little energy from a laser diode and virtually no heat. Also light moves quicker than electricity so super conductivity plus. One other bonus is more than one wavelength "colour" working on the same processor giving it multitasking capability.

oldskoolPunk: Ok so you've gone from superconductivity to fiber (not fibre) optics. While light is much faster than electricity, it takes a larger space to travel in, therefore making it useless in devices. What you are talking about it passing information over large distances, of which we already use on a mass scale. I live in the backwoods of Tennessee and we have fiber optics cables running down our dirt road.
No what I was talking about was the storing and passing of information at a quantum scale. Have you ever heard of the quantum theory? Electrons make up everything that you see around you. Electrons are a waveform until viewed by your eyes, then they break down to the ones and zeros that make up the table or the chair that you see with your eyes. Scientists can now harness this physical phenomenon. They have already built small computers using the absurdity that is quantum mechanics. Look into it. Im sure you wont believe it.

oldskoolPunk: So, only when the quantum bit is recored (on screen) is the waveform broken down into an actual number. Therefore, each bit can contain any number between 0 and 1

hellbhoy: OLDSKOOL a light pipe or fibre optic cable can carry digital info over thousands of bandwidths in parallel with no encryption encoding or decoding. You can stream info up into the thousands in unison without compression ! that's mind boggling stuff.Think of a thousand pc's working at once on one bit each at a time and sending all that data in one go.

oldskoolPunk: Yea that is fiber optics. Companies have already coined the phrase "cloud computing" because of it. Probably everyone here has fiber optic cables already. I live in the backwoods of Tennessee and we have that already. The person that started this thread was talking about new technology, now you are talking about communication across the country already in place. You said fiber optics were the future of technology but that is the past. I was talking about the future.
You are right, one fiber can carry every telephone conversation over the entire country on mother's day (the busiest phone day of the year), and those pipes are filled with fibers. It is amazing! But it isn't new. We all have that now.
The future of computers lies in quantum computing
Just a simple misunderstanding Im sorry

hellbhoy: Well I'll rephrase it then an optic processor computing at the speed of light and it's the technology of the future in development right now.

bmelion: today's technology is really now gonna be surprising. last time i herd zat one biomedical engineer created a camera whose size is not as large as a gravel. This camera is inserted into human's internal body to have internal picture to identify ones disease. This in turn pulls the development of ultira sound backward. It is really still amazing.
