Martial arts (Page 2) robbie_bear: i wanna learn mui thai and ju jitsu there the most appealing to meeeee (sry if i spelled any of them wrong) Meemriam: I love combat sports, but here in Norway there is very difficult to find clubs that take this stuff serious. It's just a hang out. Just to have something to do. The belt color is more important then actually knowing the sport. Quite sad actually robbie_bear: belt colors rly mean nothing its more of a lil kid thing u could b a yellow belt and kick a black belts ass if u kno wut u r doin and if u train properly Meemriam: You probably need a trainer for that and many trainers in Norway don't really know the art themself. Meemriam: What is the most effective genre withing martial art? Like the type of art that is more or less straight to buisness and not so much playing around! jjasmine: hai, sodesu, I did -for 7 yrs Ki-aikido is something I really like - good to keep my old bones & joints flexible. And I like the method of just directing other one`s (partner ) ki better then waste mine on kicking, throwing or other ways of hurting him/her. Beam7: hi... I have a lot of questions...I believe u practiced traditional aikido...did u have visits of Michele Quaranta 6th dan? I think he is supervisor for europe or a part of...why did u stop with practicing? jjasmine: No, the 2 big meetings I have attended were conducted by Yoshigasaki sensei. But in Slovenia there are quite some good teachers - if may I call them that way. They do not always agree with all the approaches, hence I find it good to have one`s own approach - accept what is good for you, we are unique, right, so our dealing with the world around us is kind of wise to be the same. Do a home far from the centre and 2 children and other obligations make a good excuse to put the activity dear to me away for a while? Beam7: uhhh...I feel like understand u well...a bit surprised actually! first ur question, retoric or not, I think aikido should servis people and not people be slaves of aikido...if it means hamony it should have something to do with priorities...I put = between aikido and nonviolence and any form of pressure is a violence for me...I wont take responsibility to make a choice for others I would take it as calm as I can if it influence my life too, but there are a lot of people who think they know the best... as u cant make somebody to love u, just bc u want or think it is right there is no reason to tell other people what to do..I hope Im on the same line with u...but tell me if I understood u wrong....I think too that too many people who practice aikido dont get its point and are just fighters dressed in hakamas jjasmine: Maybe my view is different from the others (but I have never felt that within a group I was practising with or when meeting others)because I did not join the practice at some early age - I was 24. And my first sensei had a great method of getting rid of the bone-breakers and tough fighters. For over a month (even 2, I think) all we practised was standing, sitting and moving slowly ˝being in the point˝. No twisting wrists, no rolling over but the very basic slow motion - hehehe - it literally killed all the ˝fighting spirits˝ of the group - they fled, never ever came back ...then, after two or three months we could get the kimonos to practice in. And the story went on I can practice many things while cooking (coz it is that much to me) but as far as the practice go, I explained the much I felt like it - I hope it does not sound offensive, but you are a woman with a career, no children, I presume, maybe you will understand one day - but I hope I will sooner be able to go back (I have just seen your profile - hehe - feeling kind of silly to write in English, but, ok, let it stay like this) Beam7: hi heheh...yes u r right...it is silly as mothertongues are vrey similar but still enough different...I wish we learned it more in school ... I like ur story about getting rid of fighting spirits...not the case in my club... as a metter of fact attending seminaries I dont think there is such sensei in Serbia, unfortunatelly...I understand some of my feelings better now ... dont get me wrong...I understand u very well even if I dont have children yet...I am 35 and know what daily shedule means, my sis has 3 school kids and rise them almost alone as is devorced...there is no much room for ur needs...and I feel for ur frustration as I can hear from ur words how much aikido means to u...I can say only...thats life...sometimes u lead it sometimes it leads u...and I think that u r in better position bc of that love then people who have only children as they will go one day and u will have aikido then hug from Zrenjanin TEXASTONY: UFC 100 GSP VS. The Spider Anderson Silva mark my fingers!! this will b the best fight in ufc histroy! Beam7: texastony, not sure Ive understood ur point of view...especially the meaning of "ufc history"...can u be more specific, pls? TEXASTONY: what i meen is that this fight will be the most graphic meening there will be blood, and there will be knockouts, meening more than 1, butt ive been looking up ufc 100 and im not totally sure that they will fight but if they do, that would be the best the middlewiehgt has to offer Beam7: Hi Arkle...I never heared of shotokan karate...what did u find in both arts?...believe karate is more agresive then aikido and more focused to attack... | Sports Chat Room 1 Person Chatting Similar Conversations |
