Do you believe in Planet x (Page 2)

Page2000: Planet X hides in the abstraction of it's 3600 year loop. It also uses the planet Pluto as it's sheild.

LiptonCambell: Planet X was prorposed by Percival Lowell of the Lowell observatory almost 100 years ago.

You see, before we discovered Uranus, we knew it was out there- because if you watch planets such as Neptune and Saturn, they have a 'wobble'- as if they're being pulled by gravity by a massive object in the opposite direction. Some people calculated it, and using it the calculations, looked into the night sky, and, sure enough, there was Uranus.

As people discovered Uranus, they noticed it too had the trademarked wobble. Lowell in particular, was bothered by this. He spent his life searching for what he called "Planet X". Sadly, he died before his life work became a reality, and we discovered Pluto.

Fast forward to the 80's, and as our ability to scan the stars became better, we found more and more planets in that region(named Trans-Neptunian Objects, and planetoids, because of their small size)- there are tens of thousands of objects out there- some the size of a car, some the size of the island of Manhattan, but none all that impressive.

THAT is planet X- trans-neptunian objects. It was looked into through legitimate and reasonable means and methods that have been proven effective in finding planets.

The planet X you're suggesting, sometimes known as Niburu or Planet marduk, is a complete fabraication by a man named Zecharia Sitchin. Sitchin didn't do any scientific work- he mistranslated and re-intrepreted the origin story of the Sumers to accommodate for his beliefs in aliens. It's like if I were to tell you Aliens live in a nearby cloud, because of the Greek belief in Zeus.

LiptonCambell: Do you honestly believe that every discovery was because people yearned it to be true? Early mans beliefs was that spitting in a wound healed it, or that if someone died in the water, it was because of sea monsters.

We must be willing to see what these kinds of thoughts for what they really are- wishful thinking- the kind of that holds us back from real progress.

There are real scientists spending their entire lives studying the stars and the universe- and there are conmen and charlatans who, rather than doing real work with real substance and help everyone have a better grasp of the universe, make shit up to sell books and dvd's that indulge peoples wish fulfillment in an effort for a quick buck.

One of these has a quiet dignity. The other is exploitative
