unlimited free energy (Page 2)

Corwin
Corwin: Yes... that's the standard conspiracy-theory that has been thrown around since the 1970s, when a guy claimed to have designed a car-engine that runs on ordinary tap-water. He then claimed that the oil-companies wanted to pay him millions to bury the design, and threatened his life if he didn't comply. A very convenient excuse for why he didn't publish his designs on how the engine actually worked... but his vague description of how it worked made physicists laugh their asses off... once again, breaking the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics.

And as I've mentioned before, neither the government nor the oil-companies are required to enforce these laws... they enforce themselves.
And besides... the oil-companies already know that their whole industry is on a limited-time-only contract... they know all too well that the wells will one day run dry, and in the not too distant future.

Corwin: No... "Nothing" is made up of the fabric of Space-Time... this Space-Time fabric dictates the laws. Matter and Energy exist within this fabric. The Laws of Physics describes how matter and energy behave within this fabric.

Sure... matter is made up of energy - you're always going on about that... but that doesn't mean that you can make an atomic bomb out of a grapefruit.

Corwin: I'm sure there is... but that doesn't invalidate the existing laws we've established... and motors that run off of generators that run off the motor simply don't work.

Do you know how that car that runs off of tap-water was supposed to work?
-- A fuel tank filled with water
-- A converter in the tank separates the Hydrogen from the Oxygen, and runs off of electricity
-- The Hydrogen is sent to an internal-combustion engine that burns it for fuel
-- The internal-combustion engine powers a generator that sends electricity to the converter in the water tank that separates the Hydrogen from the Oxygen
-- So, the engine manufactures it's own fuel out of water, with plenty of power to spare to drive the wheels of your car.

If you've been paying attention at all to my recent posts, then even you should be able to easily tell me what is OBVIOUSLY wrong with this picture.

The link for the picture is missing.

The car was too heavy to drive but the machinery worked and was used by engineering companies to safely generate electricity for jobs like heavy welding.

Corwin:
No... the guy who dreamed up that water-powered car was an uneducated buffoon. He thought the idea was a stroke of genius, and was surprised that nobody had thought of it sooner.
But plenty of uneducated people have thought of something similar... it just DOESN'T WORK.

Those pesky Laws of Thermodynamics again... here's why it doesn't work --

-- Internal combustion engines are very inefficient (barely even 20% efficient) with most of the energy lost in the form of heat. Which means that even if you could generate electricity with 100% efficiency (which you can't), and separate the Hydrogen and Oxygen in the water with 100% efficiency (which you can't), it would still require five times the amount of energy that the engine produces to generate enough electricity to manufacture enough Hydrogen needed to power the engine.

More simply put, it requires far more electricity to produce enough Hydrogen to run the engine, than the engine can generate by burning the Hydrogen... certainly nothing left over to turn the wheels of a car... or power welders.

FAIL.

There was several new inventions which improved the already commercial design. There was three shortly after the Patent was granted that improved the electrolysis by a very large amount that I remember.

Corvin is not the only one that with problems with an idea. A lot of Court officials were also prejudiced and the idea was often used as a test to see if the officials were doing what they said or getting the ideas from outside the court.

Corwin: I think I'll see if I can patent my new designs for a solar-powered flashlight... it doesn't break any laws of Physics or anything.... as long as you have a source of bright sunlight, this amazing flashlight can provide light all day long!!

I could be a rich man with an idea like this... but I'm sure the oil companies will threaten my life and rain on my parade.
