If you are personally opposed to technology, you have opportunities to go without - by all means, live your life as it makes sense to you. Isn't greed for the benefit of mankind, though? You seem to have made the assumption that greed is bad without even reflecting on the good greed creates, and how much better life is because of Greed. I work at a factory- and let me tell you, I wouldn't work there for the benefit of mankind- nor would the people who invested in the company do so for the good of mankind. We are both motivated by greed- by the desire for a decent life for ourselves. How inanimate objects suddenly and irrationally sprung to life is a complete mystery- and given how many species have been wiped out over the billions of years, it only makes sense that the one and only species to have ever left the planet is important Because we have the ability to seed the universe. To settle new worlds, where life can continue to survive and thrive long after we're all dead. Should we fail this task, life most definitely one day will disappear, as a strange anomaly completely unknown to the universe. You want to see ecosystems protected? The greatest protection we can offer is protection against the universe itself- by settling planets, and continuing life far longer than our planet could ever hope to survive. Now they really are parasites that will consume anything.  solar14: Lipton...I think tech is great but the problem is our power grids have not kept up with the times.
